Ninja upgrades!

Think I'll pass on that if you don't mind :p

Sounds bad though, certainly not the thing you want - will it result in you having to swap out the calipers then?

Scort.

Yea think so, seems to be the easiest fix, and seeing as you can pick up 2 calipers for £100 or less on the bay its not too bad, Mines not to bad a lot of guys get high speed breaking juddger which is a nightmare on the track, mines more round town judder which is annoying as I do quite a lot of that :/ just on gixerjunkies.net have done a lot of investigation with it, and theres lots that will weaken the juddger but changing calipers seems to get rid completely.

Blimey, but at least it can be sorted, is it only K4s affected like this, as I was toying with the idea of getting a Gixxer 750, which would be more insurance viable compared to a 10R :D

Yea just the K4/K5 600's and 750's but its pot luck really, but i think its more like 70/30 that you will be fine, I know plenty of people whos brakes are fine.

Get a 750 :D theyre great hehe

A 750 K5 would be my choice, and the insurance is half of what I was quoted on an R1 :D

Scort.

Most likely the typical blue white combo, it will go with all my blue kit then :D

Scort.

hehe ;)

Want to swap Calipers? im getting the dreaded K4 gixer brake judder, seems the ZX6R and 10R calipers and a straight swap and they apparently fix the problem lol, so now im wathing some nice black ZX10R calipers :D damn they will look smart hehe.

makes note to self to apply some loctite to his caliper bolts

God I hate that stuff, when I changed by bar ends I found that the left side one's bolt had been shredded; after cutting it out with a dremel it was coated in far too much loctite

It's all ok now though :)

Scort.

Braided Hoses made a good difference on the wifes 636, even though the brakes were awesome on standard hoses they felt a little spongey but now they're super sharp with braided hoses.

Any places you would recommend to get them from online? - I am trying to build up a list of decent suppliers for bike stuff and these are on my list of things to get asap!

Ebay are nice and cheap for Braided Hoses

But for general bits I use Busters, M&P, Intobikes and a few others. I dont tend to buy much online as I have an awesome local shop that literally stocks everything at great prices :)

Cheers,

I have an exhaust on order from Sportsbikeshop, they dont appear to sell hoses though so had been searching elsewhere.

I generally find things with google and buy them, just nice to know if others have bought from places before :)

Psst, R6. Something like 300 grams lighter for the pair, and you just need small spacers to make 'em fit. They have smaller pistons which gives a result similiar to fitting a bigger m/c, but that's OK. Very nice for mass produced. Or you could replace the horrible GSXR radial with the matching R6 one into the bargain... If you get Kwak ones, don't get the ones with the pad-per-piston on the road, they're orrible, really nonlinear braking. Very strong bite though.

There's something a bit not right about this "dreaded brake judder" though, the exact same calipers have appeared on other bikes after all, literally the same part- Tokicos are pretty interchangable. What do people reckon causes it? Hard to see how a caliper can cause a brake judder, now pads or discs, yeah, but caliper? Weird.

Dont know mate, one guy did loads of testing, different pads, different discs, different sized discs, some made it worse some made it better, but changing the calipers sorted it completely.

Im not really that bothered what I change calipers to aslong as I dont loose any breaking power, do you know where I could get spacers for the R6 ones? or is it just a case of getting your own spacers lol?

I just made my own, but I don't know if anyone actually makes them. Mine are a bit rough, I'm a terrible machinist or I'd offer to do you a set :D But they work.

Oh, hey, I've got a set of thou radial calipers in the garage, the sort with the wee riser for 320mm discs, don't know if those are any use to you?
