*** Nintendo Switch ***

Anyone watch the Direct? What was more interesting thatn the whole Arms thing was the little bit about Splatoon 2 at the end. There's now going to be an actual Switch SKU that includes a game with the console! Finally! I hope they do more of that throughout the year. It's probably for the best that folks are able to buy their Switches and get a game with it, like the good old days of hardware bundles.

Also something small and unconfirmed, but there's rumours that Sony will be releasing their own Switch-like handheld (or at least just a 3rd PSP)... competition for Switch can only be good. It would mean Nintendo would stop sitting around and put more effort into getting games on the Switch, to keep ahead of the competition (which currently doesn't exist).

If it doesn't dock like the Switch I'm not interested.

I heard Vita 2. As above though the dock function is what makes it for me. Portable is great and I use it on the go - I've probably done this 3 times since launch so not too much and I did take it on holiday (no dock) which was great. Saying that I am still more interested in using it as a traditional console hooked up to a TV.

I guess with Sony that will interfere with their PS4 series though.

Hybrid consoles are definitely the future for me. I play at my desk about as often as I play docked in front of the TV, and it's great to play while waiting hours for my motorcycle services or in airports.

Watched the direct stream last night and Arms looks good and I think it may surprise people with it being a deeper and more tactical game than it first appears.

It's also good to hear Nintendo are going to be releasing free content updates for it; I guess they'll be really trying to push the comparative e-sport side of this too and I can imagine that catching on if they support it well with interesting arenas and new content.

Looking forward to watching the direct later :)

Currently don't think I'll get ARMs but Splatoon 2 is a must for me. That bundle coming out is 2 days after my birthday so I may hold out until then and get the Bundle!

Great to see more Joy con colours too!

Single player Splatoon 2 trailer, looks bonkers :D

ARMs testpunch session times for those that want to give it a go!

After the way Sony treated the PSP and PS Vita. I don't see Sony releasing another handheld, even if its Hybrid.

Eyetoy, PS Move, PSP, Vita, Vita TV, Play TV. Look what happened to them.

I watched the Direct this morning and yeah ARMS look cool but I still don't think it's for me. I will give the testpunch a shot to see how it goes. The new Splatoon 2 stuff was great really looking forward to its release in July.

I'll be there day one for Splatoon 2, I still play the first one occasionally.

As something new and original I'm more excited to play ARMS though, definitely my kind of thing too.

Will likely pick up Thumper later, but gonna wait for initial feedback on the performance to make sure it's a solid port first.

Well, today I am officially a Switch owner. Along with a 2nd pair of JoyCons, a charging dock to charge 4 joycons, Mariokart, Zelda and Bomberman....oh, and 1-2 Switch but that was kind of a freebie so don't really count that.
While Bomberman is overpriced, it is perfect for me - that and Mariokart are ideal for playing around with mates which is primarily what I bought the Switch for - as I have said before, I think Nintendo's strength has always been its local multiplayer compared to the other consoles and PC.

I have no real interest in Splatoon (but may get it if my current multiplayer games get old) but ARMS actually looks intriguing....I am not totally convinced by it but may try out the demo weekend...I am wary of motion control games - if it ends up just being a lazy flick of the wrists to do the various moves then I will be underwhelmed.

See, the waiting has already paid off, you can get the bundle now and potential save a few quid (or just have first dibs on new colour joyconns if the Splatoon bundled Switch comes with the new colour Joyconns). Patience is a virtue.

Now I just hope it does better than the wii u

E3 will tell. The way I see it, it's already going the way of the WiiU with regards to 3rd party IMO. Switch is confirmed that won't be getting games like GTA5, Overwatch or Rocket League and I don't see it getting all the latest 3rd party releases this holiday season. Now first party is the one thing that could turn it around, but that's dependent on Nintendo showing the goods at E3 and confirming games like Pokemon and Metroid. But there is just as much chance such games won't be announced.

I've never played Splatoon but I'm struggling to see the appeal of it - are you basically running around an arena splatting everything with your colour to win? Heck, I may end up loving it who knows but not seeing it and Arms looks more interesting to me.
