*** Nintendo Switch ***

You just starting BotW?
I've played it a little before but I will be starting it for the first time on my own console tonight, yes :)

OK, playing snipperclips demo. Great fun. My left joy con definitely has signal issues though. The console isn't far away, maybe 2m and its losing connection. Will call Nintendo on Monday and get on it straight away.

Folks, believe it or not Ive just started playing BotW proper just a few days ago.

Ive now made my way to dueling peaks.... the thing is... I have seen a few shrines on the way such as the bosh kala shrine...

As far as I can see, the game hasn't directed me to any of these shrines, but do I go into them anyway regardless of story line etc? I.e. is there a point in time during the game which instructs me to go to these shrines (not the first 4 shrines at the beginning of the game).

Just go whenever you want. If I saw one I made sure to do it. At the very least go to it so you can fast travel using it.

Yep Ive done that (so I can fast travel to it). But I wasn't sure if I was supposed to.. go inside yet... (always felt that the story in Zelda games have to be completed in a certain way!).

There's no story in the shrines. You can just do them when you see them.

First thing I did after the first town where you get the main quests was to open up the whole map doing towers. There are some tricky areas but it's all doable.

There are some special shrine quests, but there is no benefit/reason to wait until you get the quest AFAIK. I guess they just exist to show you to some of the more hidden/obscure ones.

Ok thanks folks :)

On another note.... Switch docks...

I see these are now for sale at £80.... (crazy).

I do want to buy one for my main living room so I can crash infront of my big 55" Sony screen and enjoy BotW goodness.... but £80.... really?

Quick google yielded some info on a new dock by Nyko... but not to sure how this would work and whether it would include the HDMI and power cables....

So I'm not sure whether I should just hang on till more 3rd parties make something or just bite the bullet and get the official dock now...

Exactly the same thoughts. I am sure initially I saw reports that the Nyko one did not include power supply, but more recent ones say it does in which case it is a no brainer at $45.

According to this it will include the charger and HDMI cable: https://nyko.com/products/portable-docking-kit-for-nintendo-switch

  • Connect the Nintendo Switch to a TV without need to bring your dock with you
  • Power by a Type-C AC Adapter (included)
  • Compact design
  • Enable TV mode on the Nintendo Switch
  • Includes an HDMI cable for connecting to any TV on the go
If so that's a pretty good price compared to the official dock.

I hope it has some kind of back support we're not seeing in the pictures, or is USB connector keeping the weight of the console upright.

Its got a small back-plate like a mobile stand:

I really want Bomberman, but agree, still a lot of money for what it looks to be.

Owners, is the multiplayer really good on it?

Guess it depends on your friends. To me Bomberman shines with company, I have no real interest in online play as most the fun is the reaction from mates while playing. If you have friends to play locally, Bomberman to me is the king of multiplayer. MK8 has been gathering dust because when friends are around we have a lot more laughs playing Bomberman.
MK8 makes a better online game because, well it is MK and is a great quality game, but Bomberman is the definite party favorite.

Regarding shrines in Zelda, do them as you find them, they are not part of the story. I have 94 done and only just finished my 2nd boss, I will likely get the rest of the shrines done before the next two bosses (exception being shrines that are only accesed after a boss is killed).

I did the Master Trials on Sunday, was awesome and brutal. Failed the middle section once but otherwise managed to get through. The Final Trials are brutal

Going to the local shopping mall today and was thinking of picking up a €25 EShop card in a store to then take advantage of the Snake Pass discount at the moment. Is there a better/more cost effective way of getting credit on there?

Well I picked up an eshop card at lunch and a 128gb MicroSD card. :)

Do I need to do anything special to ensure games always go to the MicroSD card now to keep the Switch Storage relatively free?

Could be wrong, but I think I read that it'll install to the SD card instead of the internal storage if it detects one's present.

Looks like it. Have moved my screenshots over and will download Snake Pass tonight, so will see where it goes :)
