*** Nintendo Switch ***

Mario run is gonna cost £7.99 and requires always on internet connection.
I think that will put a lot of people off buying it.

Nintendo... always coming up with decent ideas and then mixing them up with terrible ideas. Regardles sof the way you look at it, £8 is far too much for a smartphone game. Most of them cost around a couple quid, the paid ones at least. What's more is that the mobile-game market is heavily competitive, with a lot of cheaper offerings and free ones at that too. What's not to say Nintendo won't have micro-transactions in their mobile game, they've done it before with a few 3DS titles.

The always on is even worse for mobiles IMO. Not everyone has data and even then, not everyone has a lot of it. And even the few of us that do have unlimited data, you don't always get a good connnection. Imagine your game you paid £8 for stopped working because the car drove into an area with poor signal (someone in the passenger seat playing the game).

Also, I know I've just added to the problem, but can we please stop talking off-topic, this is the Nintendo Switch thread and not the Nintendo anything thread.

I've been playing Pokemon Battle Revolution (Pokemon Stadium on the Wii) and it got me thinking as to whether there will be a similar game on the Switch, the WiiU never did one. But the generations before all had at lest one Pokemon Stadium-like title. It could be integrated with Pokemon Bank very well.

It will be silly to think Nintendo will not release Mario Run on the Switch, so the talk is still relevant. Its a mobile game for a mobile platform which the Nintendo Switch is or partly.

Of course Mario Run won't be on the switch. Why would it?

It's clearly purely for mobile devices, phones/tablets. They will have a proper new platform Mario for the Switch. This way they get income from both releases.

I'm still not buying that the switch will come in around £200 to £250 with a game, especially given Nintendo said they wouldn't be making a loss on the hardware. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm also surprised the Wii U is still commanding the price it is given no-one will buy one shortly.

Was gaurnteed pre-order at £200, not sure how good they are at holding that agreement though.

I reckon £300, so be happy with anything less.

Unless some amazing, must have game/s come out early, i'll be waiting for the inevitable v.2 of the console. I'm really hoping they nail Zelda this time round too. Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker were great, but I don't particularly rate Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword. The big release, for me anyways, is Mario. A proper, flagship, 3D Mario is way overdue and would be the nuts if done right :D

Because it wouldn't make sense to have a Mario game which isn't on a Nintendo platform  Especially if it turns out to be a big hit.

Mario Run Switch Edition with exclusive levels, which can be released on whatever store front they will have for digital downloads.

The Nintendo Switch presentation goes live January 13th at 4AM UK time.

As above, why would you want a touchscreen game when you can have a full Mario Platformer. Doesn't make any sense, which are the same thing really just designed to be used with a pad.

It's essentially a mini version of New Super Mario Bros.

That's not Nintendo's fault though, it's a consequence of all the ass hats pirating mobile games.

Doesn't matter who's to blame what matters is that the end user, me in this case, is getting punished because of other people. I can't support an always online game which never needs to go online.

But it's not Nintendo's fault that tons of people will buy it at this price. (Tons of people.)

Vote with your wallet. Nobody's making you buy it.

If you feel like you will inevitably buy it, you can't get THAT mad about the price as far as I'm concerned.

V.2?!!

Really? Wow. Console isn't even out yet and you're happy to wait another 5-6 years?

Each to their own I guess.

I'm going by how frequently the GBA, DS and 3DS were upgraded. I suspect 2 years at most - by which time there should be a nice catalogue of games to choose from and not have to put up with the usual Nintendo drought that's plagued their consoles since the GC.

Think it'll be a good while longer than 2 years before a refresh is announced. I hope so anyway.

I fully expect they'll do the usual redesign a year or two down the line. I'm actually suspecting they might bring out a 4k capable upgraded Switch when Nvidia refresh the Tegra product line in a couple of years and maybe sell the current one as a budget option.

A 3-4 month wait until release I can handle but there's no way I'm holding off for a refreshed model several years down the line! Between all the upcoming WiiU/3DS ports and the fact they're merging their handheld and home markets I think we're pretty much guaranteed a great library of games for the switch within the first 6 months even before you take third party support into account.

They downgraded the screens on the 3DS shortly after launch. I'll buy one release day, the only time they'll change is in 3-4 years later and even at that I doubt it. It'll be something daft like a Switch X-small or something.

It took over 3 years for the 3DS XL to come out. And as Kreeeeeeee said, a home console has never changed before. Although, we all know Nintendo hasn't quite decided what this is yet.
