Stardew Valley is life.

Been stuck at home all weekend, instead of on holiday...played spring and summer and now half way into Fall now.

The days are not long enough in game, which I can do more before it’s midnight.

Had to google this game, watched the video on steam and thought, wtf is this?

And then I saw the reviews... first time Ive seen "overwhelmingly positive" as a category.

It sounds so dull as a premise but the mechanics is the day rolls round and round and you just want one more day of play. Each season brings new challenges, new crop and new bonuses.

It’s like animal crossing but better!

I also found that there wasn’t enough time in the day, especially when your farm gets larger. And there are so many tasks to get done before nightfall.

Hitting winter is also a little boring. As there isn’t a whole lot to grow/do

Great game regardless. Sunk a fair few hours into it.

The moment to moment gameplay is nothing exciting. It’s not Halo where you and given this 30s great gun fight, sprints after sprints basically.

In Stardew you are playing in a marathon, the joy is seeing your hard work become fruition, no pun intended. You start of small, and work your way up.

If you like sim city or things like that. You’ll love it.

Careful, I think that uses the power delivery chip that has been known to fry switches.

Done a fair bit of reading up about this, and I think in all cases it was using a 3rd party ac adapter which was the root cause of the issue. Seems the official dock does not have any voltage regulators onboard, like the third party ones so the only way anything can fry the switch will be the mains adapter. Think I'll stick with the official nintendo one and try a cable and dock to see how it goes. It's not really the cost saving for me (although £80 it a lot), the dock is huge and I'd like a simple cable coming down from my TVs (all wall mounted) so I can simply plug the switch in for a quick game of arms :-)

I was tempted by it but on the face of it it just looks a bit like Farmville? Or have I got it completely wrong??

I put around 15 hours into Stardew Valley before I realised that life it too short for such pointlessness! I get why people like it and it is certainly addictive but I needed to move on.

I'm around 25hrs into it and still going :o

For me (well, us) we find it incredibly relaxing and great for switching off from work, which is great right now.

All gaming is pointless really, as is most hobbies...that’s what travelling and working and family is for.

So it doesn’t really matter what game you play as long as you enjoy it. I tried playing The Last of Us but just wasn’t enjoyable, Witcher 3 seems hard work etc.

There’s something to be said about you know what you need to do that day, broken down to smaller pieces and do them bit by bit.

I agree with you in that it is all pointless if you think about it. I'd rather do pointless things in other ways that's all. I guess I just didn't feel like it was entertaining or interesting enough for me. The game is certainly good to chill out to.

The same team that ported Skyrim to the switch have asked capcom if they can have a crack at porting MHW ... Highly doubt this will happen but we can hope :D ... Skyrim runs unbelievably well !

HMW is a much more taxing game though. I'd love for them to get the go.

I've decided to embark on a mission to build a semi official mini dock. By that I mean a mini dock with original parts inside.
Rather than buy another dock for £80 (which seem to be out of stock everywhere) which I really don't want due to the size and other issues. Plus they are selling for silly money on ebay.....hey, if this all works I'll sell my original dock to pay for a load of these. I really hate the official dock!

Not going to risk one of those third party adapters as there plenty of people saying their console got fried.

oh, first time I've used aliexpress......what a pain that site is! Luckily I've got one of those virtual credit cards in case anything kicks off.

I 3D printed my own dock and transplanted the parts from my original dock.

It's much better than the original and as you say no risk of frying the switch.

Apparently the play activity counter resetting after 1 year is a bug which they will fix in a future update. Play times are still being counted in the background they just aren't displaying correctly.
