My lovely other half bought me a switch with no games, arrrghhhh, did the same when Xbox one came out

And yes, very grateful and frustrated

First thing to do

1 - Get a 128G SD card or 200G one.
2 - you have enough space built in to buy digital games so get on the eShop and pick your poison.

Get on the eShop, be sure to check out https://eshop-prices.com/?currency=GBP to find the best prices

This seems like a very helpful site. Apologies if these two questions appear stupid, but is it just a case of creating a new account set to the relevant region and then buying the game from the Store with that account? Secondly, I presume the game won't just be in the corresponding language and will be English?

Stick to the UK one first, worry about other regions later.

There are so many games on at the moment I don't find a need to create other regions and some games in other regions have English subs, some do not. It depends.

I've used the Mexico store for XBC2 and Russian store for Sonic and bloody zombies, All in English and no issues (besides navigating the store in Russian)

How did you successfully use the Mexico store? I've not seen anyone say their card has worked and credit is seemingly impossible to buy.

Just bought the Zelda DLC and have reminded myself why I hate DLC for these sort of games. Maybe my muscle memory (and memory in general) is terrible but when it comes to DLC I pick it up x months after playing the main game and have completely forgotten the controls and even some of the basic concepts of the game. This would be fine if your starting from scratch in some way but with Zelda your already fully kitted out with all equipment and abilities and are expected to jump straight into the post game content. Does anyone else find this?
Anyone played Overcooked 2 player? is it still good?
I bought Overcooked to play with my gf and we love it, 2 player works great imo.
