*** Nintendo Switch ***

Well, i had a go on the Switch recently. I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about? I wasn't impressed. I think you'd really, really need to like Nintendo games to justify the purchase. For the rest of us it's certainly a hard sell.

The Switch is that kind of garbage hardware you see in Cash Gen, years later, priced at £70 and think some poor sod once wasted ££££ on that device.

Since I got my Switch have hardly touched my PS4. That's because the games on it are so dam good.

I agree with what you are saying if we were to compare it to PS4 and Xbox One as home console, especially with its high price and inferior hardware performance. I never would have gotten one if not for the 20% discount code promotion on ebay a while back.

The Switch is more like a best portable console out at the moment, and it is overpriced for that status alongside "THE go to console" for parents buying for their kids mainly due to their kids friendly games.

It's no PS4 or XboxOne destroyer, but portable consoles are extremely popular in Asia countries such as Japan or places like Hong Kong, where adults work as corporate slave with long working hours, and the only time realistically they have to play is during their commute to work or back home on public transport such as train etc plus the little bit of time when they get home from work. It is why the Nintendo DS is such a success, despite the hardware performance is such a joke. PS Vita is also far more successful over there by far comparing to the west because of this reason as well (well, and the huge Japanese games library as well).

I checked and no, the UK/EU version of the game does not appear to have localised text for Japanese or Chinese.

I believe you would need to import the JP version, or purchase and download it from the JP eShop.
If you owned the EU digital version, then you might be able to change your Nintendo Account region setting to Japanese and download the JP sku of the game, can't say for sure.
Thanks for checking and confirming. Looks like I might need to try to import the Japanese version then as I would prefer to have the physical game.

Been a while since I added anyone to my ignore list, I think it stands at 3 people in the many years I've been here but congratulations you made the cut!

I've put more time into my Switch in the last 6 months than my PS4 Pro and XB1X combined, it's been a breath of fresh air with a heap of fantastic games.

cool story bro

Must be disappointing when you don't get the reaction you were hoping for.

Got Disgaea 5 complete, I have on the PS4 but prefer playing handheld tbh.

I can understand where you come from if you had of said Nintendo over the past few years, as a lot of their stuff has been a bit gimmicky and I didn't think the Wii u was a decent enough upgrade from the original Wii. However, they have really hit the sweet spot with the Switch and I suppose the gamble they took on their previous consoles, allowed them to reach this stage and bring out this console. Zelda & Mario alone are worth buying the console for and they are targeting an older audience with some of their title releases. The fact that it also plays very smoothly undocked is a massive bonus, as I never got to play Skyrim originally, so being able to play on the TV and during lunch breaks etc, is a massive bonus. I also like other people, haven't touched my PS4 since I've had my switch.

Portability is the main selling point IMO, I don't play it that often but I always take it with me when I travel.

I doubt you'll be seeing a Switch in any bargain bin, any time soon. It doesn't match up to an XB1X but then it was never meant to, on it's own merit it's a cracking piece of kit.

My only disappointment is the lack of any VC :(

My Switch is used a lot on TV by my son, who just loves games in general but especially Nintendo games. The fact we can say "play it off TV now" and he just carries on is great. We get the living room telly back.

It also means, when I want to chat to the missus with the TV on, I can also be on my spine on the settee, playing ranked ARMS. It's brilliant. I completed most of BotW in bed, and just saved big things to play in all their glory on the TV. I've played hours of Skyrim waiting for my kids in car parks or leisure centres. I do play it like they do on the trailers. Holby is done - TV is mine - it's docked and I'm on. Time for bed but not done? It's coming with me. It goes way beyond a graphical thing. It's completely about the flexibility of play - and the fact that I can always play if I want to.

EDIT: Compare this to my PS4 play. It's mostly on Saturday (designated Street Fighter Saturday with my bro, all day). Or I set up a monitor in the living room. It's played a lot less as a result.

I have played the switch far more than I played my PS4 before I sold it.

Its hard to say if thats because I had the PS4 for years and exhausted most of the best games on the platform but so far the games I have played on my switch have been some of my favourites of all time. Zelda, mario odyssey and mario rabbids are all amazing games and I can't wait for Metroid 4.

Once the VC comes out it will have a massive back catalogue of games I will want to play. I just hope they bring gamecube games to it.

Oh and on a recent skiing trip it was brilliant. Used it on the plane, in the airport and we played a lot of 2 player mariokart even though it was just on the switches small screen.

Easily worth the money I have spent on it and its still less than a year old. Nintendo have absolutely nailed this generation.

Kind of interested to know what games Rock n Roll plays on his console of choice.

He comes in occasionally. I used to react to it but now I just roll my eyes, sigh a little, then move on.

Speaking of the PS4, I've been considering selling mine recently but I think I'll keep it. It isn't worth much and I do want to play TLoU 2 when it comes out. I have some digital purchase investments on it too which I might one day go back to so I might as well keep it. Like my XB1 it is gathering dust mostly. It's nice to have options though and if I do fancy playing Battlefield or Overwatch or whatever I still have that option.

Can't knock the Switch this past year has been one of the most memorable and enjoyable years of gaming that I've ever had.

We could ban him from this thread?

To tell you the truth, I gotten this game for my PS4 Pro but haven't got round to play it yet. It is the type of game that would be convenient to play on a portable device.

This is the sole reason I'm keeping my ps4 for the last of us 2 , might pick up rdr 2 also but don't know yet Will wait to see reviews.

My ps4 just gathers dust also as I'm between the pc and switch , perfect combination imo
