Nintendo Wii

You ever play a DS?

yeh, ive got one, but i play on it because the games are good, not because i can touch the screen or blow into the microphone. To me new super mario is the best game on the machine, and that doens't require any special interaction apart from tapping the sreen to get a mushroom etc.

i think the Wii will rock arse. There could be a point about novelty ( obviously ) but a decent game will make great use of the controller and make it amazing , red steel + zelda. I seriously dont see why any one would be bothering about PS3, especially if the Wii is 150 then its a no brainer. WIIIIIIIIII

Havent you just broken the NDA by saying you've played on one? All NDA's I've known about have a strict policy where your not allowed to say that your testing the product.

Not at all.. My NDA clearly states were allowed to discuss anything we wish so long as it isnt considered confidential information (ie details of titles we maybe be working on, although even that is somtimes open to debate).

But i can freely discuss 360, PS3 and Wii . not that there is much to say that isnt publicly available already.

What people fail to see.. is that a lot of rumours and forum chatter is often started by game publisher employees theselves to try and hype the games there not ment to be discussing. It been happening for years.. after all word of mouth is the best for of advertisment.

After all its "My opinon" not that of my employer's ..or our publishers.

Wii "launch party" 11/17, details 9/14? Source: An e-mail "Wii Launch Party" invitation posted on the Gaming-Age forums.

What we heard: Secrets are tough to keep in the gaming industry. Leaks, moles, and cocktail hours generally spill the beans on the juiciest details before they're intended to go public. It's a wonder, then, that the season's biggest secret, the release date of the Nintendo Wii, remains unearthed.

The latest bit of quasi-information on the system's launch comes via the message boards over at Gaming-Age. Melissa from Web show GameLife posted an e-mail (pictured--click to enlarge) she received from Nintendo that invited her to a Wii launch party in Los Angeles...on November 17.

The date is no doubt familiar to gamers as the day the PlayStation 3 launches, but is it also the day the Wii launches? By all accounts, it would appear so. So that's it, case closed, right?

Not so fast. As reported by several gaming sites, including game blog Kotaku, Nintendo is also holding an event in New York City on September 14 which will be hosted by Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. With Nintendo promising to release information on the console's price and release date in September, the smart money says that the NYC event will be the place the final details of the Wii are out of the bag.

But what of the Los Angeles event? Of course it could be the console's release date--after all, it is a launch party. But why would Nintendo make such a blatant error in sending out the information in a simple party invite rather than making an official announcement? The company is too smart to let something like that slip by.

Nintendo has insinuated that it plans to take the console on the road to prove its "Playing is Believing" slogan, so the LA party could be part of that tour and doesn't necessarily need to fall on the actual launch date--it could take place before or after. In fact, the rest of the invitation mentions the following: "These 'secret' parties will be held all across the globe to celebrate the worldwide release of the Wii..."

Something fishy is going on here (including the possibility of a Photoshop monkey hard at work nearby). Looks like we'll all have to wait until September to find out what Nintendo's up to.

The official story: Nintendo was unavailable for comment.

Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus that Nintendo is planning some mega prelaunch (and launch) events, but likely bogus that November 17 is the launch day.

Sounds promising

Am I the only one who's not even remotely interested in the Nintendo Wii?

Of course not. There are plenty of people who have no interest in any consoles. In fact some people are against the Wii. Don't know why.

I'm not against the Nintendo Wii, I'm all for its success, as with all the other consoles.

It's just it seems like everyone is getting one and I just wondered if there were some who wern't.

A lot of people think Nintendo are for children that’s pretty much the only people who won’t buy one.
I will buy one for Wii Sports and Zelda

Haha I love the attitude from some of the forum members on this forum.

Firstly, there are (probably) at least several hundred people in this country who have played on the Nintendo Wii, yet the chances of posting on here are obviously non-existent?

Secondly, whilst I'm sure some of you know what an NDA is, I didn't know any of you had a copy of MY NDA, so stop specualting as to what I have/haven't signed up to on my NDA.

OK, reasons I didn't like it:

Whilst it was pretty cool to have your movements tracked on screen, it didn't really feel like it added anything to the gameplay. I'm sure this'll change when devs find more ways to make use of it, but from the game(s) I've played on, I'd rather have had a standard GC controller to play them for the sake of having more control.

I've never really been a big Nintendo fan, have always prefered the Xbox FPS games to Mario Kart type games, and the Wii did nothing to change this.
