Nissan GTR Owners and Lovers Thread

Sorry, but what cars exactly are better than the gtr now in its price range? For example, it's faster and just as good handling as a 911 / F type / r8.... so unsure what people think is better?

As good as the GTR is, some people might want something that's RWD, doesn't weigh about 3 tonnes and is the size of a transit van? :p

But they weren't saying that, they were saying there are better performing cars for the money...

Point to point a GT-R will beat practically any current car out there, despite it being 7 years old.

Ah. Thought the term "better" had a wider context than just lap records, however in this instance it doesn't. :)

I agree, it's bang for buck is undeniably near the top of the tree when up against similarly priced alternatives.

Just to spruce this thread up with some recent photos -

Yeah few more bits to do, all depends when I think is best to sell it, probably before the R36 hits the road.

Bit more carbon to add, full wrap booked for October, new wheels (possibly Rays 57FXX) and then it's on to turbos if I decide to keep the car a while.

Some cars offer duality, ie day to day use on UK roads aswell as being able to get on ot. Other cars may offer the owner a lack of driveline whine and shunt that's more evident in the GTR.

Its not just about performance. A GTR would wipe the floor with my 911 performance wise, but I far prefer the 911 to drive, it's feel and communication is simply something the GTR can't rival. :)

An R8 is one of the best balanced mid engined cars in the market with beautiful handling, it's hard to believe Audi make it.

If the GTR was the best then everyone would have one, it's not just about numbers and there are better cars available depending on what you want from your 30-70k sports/performance car.

lol, funny how people say it's not all about performance when discussing the GT-R against their porsche etc, but at the same time wouldn't admit that say a S2000 is just as engaging and well balanced as a 911, and instead simply claim that the S2000 "is too slow" etc.

Having owned both your a million miles of the mark, the balance of an S2000 and 911 are not even remotely close or similar.

People with experience don't use a spreadsheet to determine which car is best. If your approach is to stick some stats into the Excel machine and come out with a winner then fine, but it's not how I determine what car I buy and certainly which for me is best.

MB hated his 911 GT3 as the balance was 'all wrong' and it seemed to understeer everywhere.

Correct, S2000 is a perfect 50/50 balance. :)

911's are driven in a completely different style and you either get it or you don't.

They all understeer out the box, but it can be dialled out with widening of front track and more front negative camber. Its a rear-engine car afterall with most the weight on the back wheels. :)

996 GT3's typically don't understeer, the 997.1 GT3 did understeer as Porsche dialled it in on purpose to stop people from killing themselves, but its easily dialled out, if I can do it with a Carrera it can be done with a GT3. ;)
