If you are ever in or around N.Wales, please drop me an email. Would love to see what it does in the flesh if you are up for a passenger :)

You're kidding.... you'd kill my power to weight :D

Just messing. Same goes for you if you're up around central Scotland. I doubt I'll be down in wales in the 5 to be honest. I'd have a head ache by the time I reached England. Such is the nature of the car.

On a side note, the owner of the GTR should be attending the rolling road meet I've organised for the end of August. He mentioned he'd replaced the 'Y' pipe if that means anything to you. I'm certainly interested to see what power it makes, as I've heard people say the 480bhp seems a bit low. The noise will be something else too.

The y-pipe is a pretty common mod, it's purely for the noise if the map is left stock and some HPCs will honour the warranty with it on.

As far as the bhp figures, I personally think it's underrated. The feller who writes for EVO had his on a Dyno Dynamics RR (hardly an over-reader) and it rolled 511 (with Y-pipe which by all accounts drops the power ever so slightly), another stock GT-R with only 2800 miles on the clock on the day was 506, both around 490lb.ft as well.

He loaded a Stage 1 map after that run and saw 547bhp, so for 750 notes for the Cobb Accessport and £400 for the Y-pipe that you can go up to Stage 2 with, it's a no-brainer so my pipe is being fitted at the 6k service and the Accessport...well, no comment :D

How will the different map, with I assume more boost, affect your warranty?

Official line is your warranty is voided if Nissan can prove that the map caused whatever issue may arise etc, but it's a bit more gray than black and white. If you have a good relationship with your HPC, it helps as your warranty is with them, not directly with Nissan. So unless it was something catastrophic in the drivetrain, there is leeway. Best course of action is to be open with the HPC, no matter what you do, you cannot hide the fact a map has been loaded at any point and don't take the ****.

But, like I said, officially, your warranty is worthless in regards to the drivetrain at least and I doubt any HPC would ever state publically anything other than that. In private, it *may* be a different matter.

Fett how does your GTR compare the the 55 AMG? I always remember the sound of an SL55AMG gunning past with the roof down. It sounded like thunder. Awesome noise.

I'm more than happy to bore you to death with a comparison but I'd be better off answering specific questions, so ask away. Or not as the case may be. As far as noise, it's no contest, the SL is fairly monstrous when pegged whereas the GT-R is fairly anodyne in comparison and I'm always suprised when people on forums compliment the GT-R note, sounds like a big, ******-off turbine to me now. The SL also has the advantage of not requiring you to recalibrate your driving brain every time you push the start button.
