no demo for call of duty modern wafare 2 !

i think the lack of demo is to stop people saying its COD 4 with new skins and therefore buying it, and then finding that out

however i think the imersion of these games are quite good and worth the cost

Never got into COD games. I dont like spawning...full stop. I forgave Bioshock because it hardly happened.
What is wrong with spawning? That's generally what you do when you die, it's how videogames get around the fact that in real life when you're dead you're.... dead.

Not really sure why people are going on about "more of the same, not groundbreaking " etc etc.

For me the SP in Cod 4 was great because, the characters weren't completely hollow and hateable, the story was great and immersive, the missions were hard enough to not be able to just walk into every attack run up to everyone and shoot them in the face as with some stupidly easy games (bioshock and I've forgotten my other go to example of a game with zero difficulty :( ).

It felt fun to play, level design was changing, without jumping into tanks for missions, the gameplay felt varied and the enemy tactics different in different missions which all led to a fantastic single player campaign.

I have no idea what people could possibly want to make the single player "ground breaking" and yet still good. Crysis felt far to detached, was too easy and almost too open, sure I can run around an island for 14 hours, but I can use superspeed, finish my goals and finish the mission without straying from the path. As a soldier fighting for my life thats how I enjoy playing because thats how I would do it in real life.

Almost every truly fantastic game relies on heavy scripting and being "on the rails" , very few games have good set pieces in them without heavy scripting and pushing you in the right direction. Great games make you feel like you are in bigger area's than you can use, for instance the escape in the sniper mission, you can really only go one way but it feels unquestionably like you are in a big city being taken all over.

Great games are about great storytelling and great set pieces, timing and diverse mission style(even in a narrow scope), new for the sake of new has ruined 99.9% of games than its improved.

I could play COD MW2 with no engine improvements, with no new anything, just a new story and set of missions to play, can't see how anyone who enjoyed the first couldn't.

I also can't work out why anyone needs a demo, if you can't work out what a COD game is about without a demo and realise what gameplay will be and that the story will be immersive and fantastic(as long as its not made by the crap story telling Cod3/5 idiots) you need help. Nothings changed since COD 1, decent graphics for all games for the time they come out, but immersive story telling and gameplay, with some superb levels and atmospheric bits, from crossing the river in Russia as ships blow up around you as you rush into battle unarmed, to sneaking through a desolate Russian city or being dragged to your execution in COD 4. More of the same, yet not a single COD game, made by the real COD people, has not been brilliant.

And agreed again cod5/waw SP/MP sucked ass

Would have liked a demo but would rather the game was fully finished and patched. Just to iron out any niggles much prefer a better final game than rushing a demo out as well.

It's a shame there was no beta.

The first few months will be full of glitchers :(

At least with a beta some of these would be ironed out before release.

Every game has a beta.
You probably misunderstood beta being always public.

To name a few

To continue on with how anal some people in this thread are being.... (not directed at you HAz)

These are nothing but Wolfenstein 3d with some mods.

It is not IW's fault.

It is the Publisher who commission demos so on this occassion, blame Activision.

Very arrogant on their behalf.
