No england shirts/flags?

I wouldn't dare wear my England shirt up 'ere!

Not quite the same but a few of my mates would regularly wear their England rugby tops in Dundee, nothing ever came of it beyond a bit of banter between them and other fans.

Why not? i regularly do :p

You're English? For some reason I'd always presumed you were Scottish.

As for the FaceBook status update, I'd suggest that people stop using capitals where they aren't appropriate and start using facts where they are appropriate. It's in a few pubs, not across all of them - certain pubs such as the Wetherspoons chain already ban all football strips as a matter of course irrespective of whether a game is ongoing or not at the time. It's not a denial of your human rights, it's a pragmatic approach to stop something that is known to cause trouble in certain areas.

I dont know whether this has been posted before or if its even true. I treid the following on Facebook...

POLICE ARE GOING AROUND PUBS AND CLUBS SAYING THAT WE CANT WEAR OUR ENGLAND TOPS FOR THE FOOTIE & GOTTA TAKE THE FLAGS DOWN AS IT IS UPSETTING THE PEOPLE THAT DONT COME FROM HERE!!NOW IM NOT RACIST , BUT THIS IS TAKING THE ****! THIS IS OUR COUNTRY AND WE NEED 2 MAKE A STAND IF YOU/THEY DONT LIKE IT GO AWAY! WOULD YOU REMOVE UR TURBAN & BURKHA BECAUSE IT UPSETS ME? IF YOU AGREE POST THIS AS YOUR STATUS

I didn't realise you were a gullible fool, but thanks for the heads up.

England stuff like flags, tops etc looks pretty chavvy imo, no way i'd wear it but i'm English and proud, i just don't deem it necessary to fly a flag to present that fact

Yeah, been 'invited' to way too many of these stupid groups over the last few days for my liking.

Just nonscence, like the "9,000,000 people join to stop facebook charging £2.50 per month!" groups which popup every so often.
Most likely some idiot wandered into an establishment which has some sort of long standing dresscode (No football shirts. The horror!) and got annoyed, so started a hate campaign against the foreigners.
Whats next? Foreigners fault we cant wear trainers in some(most) nightclubs!
Sigh.

On national pride the whole "you don't choose the culture you're born into so it's foolish to be proud of it" and "all humans originate from Africa anyway, right?" This makes having any cultural standards a taboo, which reduces culture to the lowest common denominator, that being the consumerist zeitgeist. but liberal one-world utopianists just don't want to hear that.

He'd be taken for a Rangers fan so okay in half of Glasgee. ;)

Shame I live in the East End! Only a street up from the Bristol & Louden though...

Aye, trouble is there's a big difference between the support of rugby and football. You can openly support England up 'ere, and even sit in the Scotland 'end' at Murrayfield if they are playing England and you'll only get a bit of banter.
Football brings more risks though, not really worth the hassle it could bring. I'll just put my England socks on instead!

LOL!

ROFL, if there was even a half second period where you thought that might be true, probably best to just end it now.

Take this man's advice.

Its crap. People should be allowed to fly ANY flag (even if its a swastika) and it should be upto business owns if they want to host them.

Not allowing people to do so is what leads to racism etc..

We shouldn't be angry at other people. Our anger should be with the state.

(ohh yeh im not pro natzi or bnp lol)

I do find it a little chavvy seeing cars with England flags flying from them I must say - but I'm not a footie fan. However it's great to be proud of your country, but then again I believe people should be flying the Union flag - but I guess in terms of football and rugby for that matter it's split into individual countries within the UK so it's fair enough.

What I find funny is how here, people will fly flags of their own countries and refuse to fly the British flags, but look at the states, and you will get people from all nationalities flying the stars and stripes with pride - they may still fly their own flag, but they will put recognition of the US flag too. I think that's quite nice, they feel part and proud of their own country, yet still recognise their own.

I'm going to fly the European flag in protest! ;) :p
