No england shirts/flags?

This is the one doing the rounds that I have seen:

POLICE ARE GOING AROUND PUBS AND CLUBS
SAYING THAT WE CANT WEAR OUR NATIONS TOPS 4 THE FOOTBALL & WE HAVE 2
TAKE THE FLAGS DOWN AS IT'S UPSETTING IMMIGRANTS THAT DONT COME FROM
HERE!! NOW I'M NOT RACIST BUT THIS IS GOING 2 FAR! THIS IS OUR COUNTRY
& WE NEED 2 MAKE A STAND IF THEY DONT LIKE IT THEN GO HOME! WOULD U
......REMOVE UR TURBAN & BURKHA BECAUSE IT UPSETS ME!!! REPOST THIS IF U
AGREE!!

The rubbish grammar and text talk annoys me more I think :p

*edit* I especially like the "Immigrants that don't come from here" line :D

This advice from the Met Police stems from the 2004 football riots in Croydon. It's got nothing to do with immigrants.

Someone got beaten up for wearing a blue top (mistaken for a France shirt).

It's a shame that idiots ruin the fun for everyone else.
It's also part of a standard briefing for any high profile football matches, it's always suggested that one way of keeping a tab on violence/generally who's in the pub is having a "no colours" dress code. It's not particularly stating that people in a specific top are going to be violent, but just recognising that football fans tend to struggle around football fans in a different teams kit.

to be honest if anyone I knew posted that I'd be heading for the delete button.

NEVER TRUST ANYTHING WRITTEN WITH CAPS LOCK ON!!! ;) :p

Anyway, do you guys have the problem of people running around at major events using the National Flag as a cape like we do?

Complete none story, every other car round here has England flags and red & white streamers on it.

Our local is putting on a party for the 1st England game, free food n the lot.

A mate of mine in Sunderland was told to take to take his two England flags he had in his front room and Bedroom windows as were all the people down his street.

By whom and using what legislation?

He just told me CSO's came round on Saturday and said they have been told to get people to take there flags down as its upsetting people. I told him to stick them back up as they cant do anything about it but he's **** it.

All it is they have advised pubs who have experienced previous trouble from televised football matches to ban football shirts. A local pub did it where I lived and is a really nice boozer now. Gets rid of people who use football teams as an excuse to be a yob.

Its when you get mistaken for being English when abroad that I hate :(

Not because I am English-bashing here, but the sad fact is, most foreign countries (particularly European), associate English tourists with rowdiness and general incivility/chavness.

If they ask me "Are you English" then I correct them and you actually see their mood change and they become more relaxed and friendlier.... May be silly but its true...

p.s. As I said, its not an English-hater post I have written, its my own personal experience and I would safely say that the majority of English people would agree....

And what people is it upsetting exactly?

Its more than likely it makes certain groups (minorities) feel nervous/oppressed/persecuted etc etc.

Load of balls if you ask me but it gives them something to shout about and perpetuate their own agenda....

Am I being racist ? Nope. What I say above shouldnt be the case, but it is.

My work place has loads of Asian people in, we still have flags up supporting England and no-one has said a peep. They honestly don't care, I think I care about the stupid flags postered everywhere more than they do.
