No Man's Sky - Procedural space game

To start with, harvesting those larval core things you get around abandoned buildings. Use jetpack to stand on top of the building to get out of the way of the scary critters and plan which one you're going for next.

Build a base computer at the location, then build walls around the eggs. Harvest at leisure. You can gain about 3mil per base.

Anyone tried this on an ultrawide monitor, how does it scale?
Also playing on 3440x1440, absolutely zero noticeable issues so far.
It sometimes slows down a little bit when flying my ship across a planet or when I enter/exit atmosphere but that's expected when I'm only using a GTX 1070.

@Soya sorry man, game crashed out on me! Went back to a creative game after that. Need some practice on normal mode. Nothing personal chap! :)

No worries at all dude. At least we learned that if you join someone else's game, you can only load a character that is of the same game type. ie. creative, normal, survival & perma-death. You can still join other people/friends but you will have to start with nothing again.

Take note of that fact when you're planning to play with friends people!

I can't seem to upload any data. I wonder if I broke it with a mod that was installed several big patches ago.

I take it most PC players can upload straight away? Or is just because I started a new game and haven't unlocked something?

Nope, having the same issue since I started playing again. Nearly always says disconnected from upload server (red icon) but even when it does connect (green icon) and I try to upload everything, its keep failing. Real pain cause my Planetary Zoology remains at 0 cause I cannot upload my results, meaning I am stuck at one of the quests which requires me to have Zoology 1. I guess with so many people playing all of a sudden, their upload stats servers are being hammered. :(

Edit: my bad. Zoology updates when you press the paw icon over the planet you discovered ll of the Fauna for it under discoveries menu.

NOTE: Another nuisance I found out with multiplayer is that most things that are created via RNG are not the same for each player. Yesterday I spend some time helping another player find a S class ship. I found one for him told him to come to the ship asap, but when he viewed it, it was only a C class :(.

One particular thing I like since the update: in Creative mode, you no longer begin able to craft every suit/tool/ship upgrade from the word go.
You still don't need to collect materials, but you do have to go find the upgrade modules from vendors. So at least there's some extra reason to pootle and explore, rather than leaving the spawn point powered-up to the max...

Hope they add more reason to coop? Unless I'm missing something you can't really do anything together.

Base building is limited to the person who plopped the base computer (least I think it is)

Only 1 person can loot stuff, and so far we've not found anything that needs 2+ players safely loot.

@Vimes

Put your cursor where the small circle is in front of the ship and fire, the rockets don't lock (well, my stock ones dont) so most of the time I use the pulse thing.

Sometimes its better to not move too fast

Understatement on the speed. In most battles it's simpler just to lay off any thrust at all and just sit still and shoot. You don't seem to take anymore damage than if you are moving and can kill things very quickly. Even more so when you have a beefed up ship. Literally zero reason to move in a battle.

It's one of the main complaints I have with this game... zero challenge space battles.

Hoped that was right as I found that I was making more errors due to movement than just pivoting round whilst shooting.

When you manage to grab one of those navigational data things which allows you to then search for a distress signal, to try and find a crashed ship, does it sometimes happen where nothing occurs...?
In other words there might not be a ship which has crashed on the planet where you are searching...?

At least I'm managing to collect those eggs around the abandoned buildings, get around 3m or so a haul :)

Sometimes the Nav Data returns nothing, I've found a few planets that are completely devoid of structures, artifacts and ships, other times it might return a distress signal and there will be no ship when you arrive, had this happen a few times but I have a ship I'm happy with now.

Anyone know how to get upgrades for your freighter? Not seen anyone selling anything or can I just use ship upgrades on my freighter?

I find it a bit annoying how much resource mining have to do, and how quick ship resources run out, I want to be able to explore the galaxy and different solar systems, so far haven't got the warp drive.

Because I like to pop around in the ship and land and take off a lot I used a mod to reduce the fuel used for the launch thrusters....

https://nomansskymods.com/mods/ship-launch-cost-reducer/

some might consider that cheating, I just considered making the game a little less grindy. At least it saves on the Uranium.

@Bickaxe - thanks. Thought that I was just having bad luck.

No it is just the uranium that you would otherwise need for the launch thrusters.

I have use the 1% version. So I get 100 take offs before needing to replenish the uranium.

For the pulse drive the tritium within asteroids makes it pretty common.

Just started out with this game and am part way through the first section of what I think is the tutorial, its not clear! Just starting to fathom the basics but I feel a long way off from understanding this game from some of the posts in here. Its a little daunting at first, if I'm being honest. Trying to stick with it so I can get to the fun parts!

you dont have to get uranium to create launch fuel?
