I'm still not buying a 980ti :o

No I agree doesnt make sense to get a 980ti when you have 780's but then again if you were offered a 980ti at £300 against a 1080 at £600 which would you go for ?

Its the comments I see that say suddenly the 980ti is useless or its value is worthless just because a new set of cards are coming out - not aiming this at you either.

Just to give you an idea where I`m coming from last time I went 970 > 970 SLI > 980 > 980 SLI > 980TI all in the space of about a year just because I could and got good prices for them all buying/selling. I was an early adopter too. I got the 980TI within two weeks of release. Thats with a 4k monitor too!

No way am I doing that this time even if the 1080 is faster than a 980ti. I might be tempted by a 1080ti but at the moment every game I play is super smooth. Why fork out another £600 when my gaming experience wont improve.

I'll check it out later, meant to be working

See I'm currently at 1080p which I've been happy with, never really witnessed 1440p as amazing as that claim sounds so I would be happy with that upgrade. You'll have to forgive me as I'm not fully clued up on SLI but I imagine a 1080p in SLI will run 4k a lot better? Just thinking down the line upgrade.

I'm lucky :) just on my days off at the minute. Next 5 days off start on the 26th. Great to see what we have for launch.

1440p 144hz and 4k 60hz are a big jump from 1080p. 4k does look fantastic, extremely crisp. I am one for high refresh personally and 1440p is still a leap over 1080 and the 144hz is just so much better than 60.

Really cannot wait for 4k 144hz but that is still a good way off to run at high settings.

You really need to test out a 4k 60hz panel or 1440p 144hz. You will never look back.

1440p is just a stop gap. no point spending money on a 1400p monitor, the resolution is transient and will soon be obsolete. 4K is the "next" real resolution. (in my opinion).

4k is a just a stop gap until 8k.....

Technology is incessant.

Given my 780ti can do 1440p ultra at 60 fps, a 980ti would be overkill and a 1080 just unnecessary...

which is why my card is currently on an auction site:D

Wrong. 4K (I believe) will be the "end resolution" for home use. Purely because monitor sizes can't keep increasing (as room sizes are static). You won't see the difference between 4k and 8k on a 30" monitor, or indeed a 50" TV. So no way people would outlay for 8K or the tech to run it. because there are no perceived gains.

I'm looking to step up to 1440p at the very least, 1080p is alright but everything else about my build says to me it can handle much more. Not sure how well it will handle 4k but this is why I want to get the GTX1080 to push it.

Plus I have money and it's getting blasted on something, it's either this or a road bike and I know how that won't last!

By the time 1440p is actually not supported or wanted, we'll probably be buying GTX 2080s or whatever anyway :p
