Pretty sure I read somewhere that the 00 numbers don't get reused whilst the previous holder is still alive, even if they're retired.

Honestly I'd be happy with a franchise extension at this point. Ditch 007/bond for 10 years and have new 00 films.
I dont know if that's what they are setting up with the new character but I would applaud them if thats the case. Craig is a good bond but he has got the Brosnan curse of crappy scripts.
Maybe getting writers to focus on a different character can bring something new to the table. Like the whole point of craigs bond was that he was supposed to be more brutish but they decided to throw that out after the first movie and go back to him being a charmer.

Sometimes I find it crazy looking back to Tomb Raider seeing the young Daniel Craig before his 007 fame. Which was only 5 years later.
At this point im not very interested in the bond movies, skyfall was good but spectre was bad and its been the same with all the recent movies, one is good then one bad.

Michael B Jordan (American I know) but IMO he as good if not better then my other choices, he is the only black actor I would choose (young, great actor) Im sure he could act British

You have your option but I dont see your reasoning why ?
He's a great actor who has proven himself.
He is the youngest.
Hes athletic
He has the build to be considered good for bond.
He has the on screen charisma to be a bond.
The only 3 reasons you would not consider him are minor IMO.
1. He's black (bond was not) so what times are changing and over all hes one of the best young actors, I would have even chosen Riz Ahmed if he was taller and had a better build.
2. He's american, hes a actor im sure he could act British
3. 007 is always a unknown when chosen. he is not.

Michal B Jordan - If he gets the accent wrong then the James Bond franchise loses its audience long term. It's too much of a risk.
im not sure with so many bad ones (about half) with Craig and still bouncing back, im not sure that would be a issues.
Thats what the audition would be for. he maybe able to pull it off, if British actors can pull of american accents it should be possible the other way round, plus with so many British accents it should be possible, Craig was not great when talking thats why he kept his mouth shut most of the time compared to other bonds.
1: I don't care about skin colour.
2: Bond is, and always has been British. Do not let the Americans take yet another British thing and bastardise it. I don't care if he can act British, he isn't. He's a mediocre actor at best too.
You missed one good name from that list who I would pick: Idris Elba. Henry Caville looks the part but not sure he would pull off Bond.

Great actor(on the whole, has done a few lemons) but I dont think he really fits for a new Bond at that age.
I like Michael B Jordan but you can guarantee the accent would be off, end up with Karl Urban from The Boys, a New Zealander supposedly playing a Londoner, is diabolical.
I'd have loved to see Idris Elba as Bond but agree he's too old now. I think he would have done an excellent job.

True. I guess that's what voice coaches are for. I also guess it depends on where their big markets are. If it's still big in America then it could work. But I can generally spot an American trying to do a British accent a mile off and it always jars with me throughout the film. I assume that's also the case for Americans watching a British actor pretending to be American. Maybe he could pull it off.
2. Well a american studio already owns the right so im not sure how long it would take.
also its acting, bond need to be British not the actor playing him.
Name me another actor you would like instead.

May be on screen but he need to be fit to play the part now and for around 10 years after.
