ill be honest I've never seen his work so I don't know how good he is, so I cant judge him but IMO age and fitness will be a factor. He was in Outlander, also 40 isn't old, he looks young too. To be honest it's a pretty tough choice for the character really, choosing one to fit the role.
1: I don't care about skin colour.
2: Bond is, and always has been British. Do not let the Americans take yet another British thing and bastardise it. I don't care if he can act British, he isn't. He's a mediocre actor at best too.
You missed one good name from that list who I would pick: Idris Elba. Henry Caville looks the part but not sure he would pull off Bond.

I agree, bond is a incredibly two-dimensional character but I think he could be developed if it has the right start.Superman AND Bond would be some CV!
To be fair, Bond is not a difficult role to play. He's an incredibly two-dimensional character, with nowhere to go in terms of development.
Yeah, I wouldn't be against that personally. They'd certainly need better writers than they're currently employing though!I agree, bond is a incredibly two-dimensional character but I think he could be developed if it has the right start.
True and a better star, I mean just compare him to the previous bonds, Craig's bond only ever says a few words.Yeah, I wouldn't be against that personally. They'd certainly need better writers than they're currently employing though!

in the recent movies tell me one line you remember ?

40 is too old for an actor who wouldn't start shooting til he's $2 at the earliest, then have to do physically demanding stunts for 10+ years leading to the same old stories of Bond getting too old, retiring then coming back for one last mission - crap we've seen time after time after time.
As mentioned previously I think the the Actor playing bond needs to be mid-30's at the oldest so that they can make 3 films over 10 years then quit whilst the Bond character is still capable, rather than being 50+.
