no to X-Factor getting Xmas number 1

Well i know all this runs the risk of becoming "what do the Internet people want to be number one this year"

But, I think its worth it, just to stick it to the people who think the world revolves around x factor and the little goons on there and that they somehow have some right to number one! they don't! there are plenty of people who don't like x factor or what it stands for and if stopping them getting number one every year brings us ANY close to removing it from our TV's near Christmas then i am all for it!

I loved the quote from RATM regarding the campaign last year "I think people are just fed up of been spoonfed some overblown sugery ballad that sits on top of the charts"

However i could relate to Simon Cowells comment last year that before X Factor came along the only tracks that got to number 1 were ridiculous songs such as Mr Blobby and Bob the Builder that tanked out the week after never to be listened too again... for me though x factor is not the answer.

Ahahahaha, which is an ironic and very accurate description of the tripe cowell produces. mcengleberry or whatever his name was last year? Where did he go? Mr Blobby?

Creating a X-mas Number 1 either by x-factor or by a facebook campaign feels the same to me. Most of the people supported RATM not because they liked the music, but because other people told them to. As mindless as people buying x-factor pop drivel (though I do enjoy watching the programme)

A couple of posters said why do it again, they had made the point last year??? Has anyone looked at the crap in the charts? And since when is the Xmas no.1 ever been about good music.

I don't like X factor as you can tell but i do think Bob the builder and Mr Blobby were worse.. at least last year was intresting.

There was some argument last year as well that artists stopped putting effort into getting a good Number 1 (which did used to happen back in the day didn't it) because of X Factor, this argument falls to pieces tho when you look at what happened prior to it.. Is there some sort of bigger problem here?

This isn't such a great come back is it really, your comparing one lot of sheep to another ? at least the RATM people had a motive, they were fed up of X factor and what it stood for.. this made the song perfect, they also played a free gig, Mcdingleberry would never have done that, not least because of his Puppet Master Mr Simon Cowell.

Why do people watch X Factor ? because they like the music there fed all year and want more ? Because its on TV ? Because they could not be bothered to turn over one day and X Factor came on ?

I don't know what the answer should be this year.. but point made ? i don't think so.. its back on my TV again and no doubt in the run up Christmas i wont be able to escape it

xmas charts with his manufactured pop ****e

So your solution to this is to try and manufacture the result with a facebook petition?

Is this going to happen every year now?

Christmas No1 = Manufactured pop ***** vs Some ***** Facebook petition

Who will win? Who cares.....

I set up a group to get the Pogues back to number 1 for xmas!

It only attracted a hundred or so people though :(

Whilst the original facebook campaign had a motive, a vast number of people supported it out without giving a thought to why it was needed. Only that they should do something because it was 'cool'

And at the end of the day nothing has changed. People still buy whatever Radio 1 has on it's playlist and small bands still struggle to get heard. If people want to change what is on the airwaves they should go to their local live music pub and support the small guys.
