best part of 80 quid? youd be insane to buy that over something like this for cheaper

yes becuase everyone wants and has room for 2 x 120mm aio cooling solutions.

No, they are noisey and not as efficient as air coolers they have parts that will run out the metal fins on normal air coolers will never suddenly fail after a power surge and will more than likely fit in your next case and the case after that.

Large premium air coolers are a long term investment and thats why people spend the cash on the premium models. Like the silver arrow and the nh D series.

Noctua is also one of the only brands that supports every socket in existence and will also send you free of charge new fittings to fit newer chipsets if the dimensions change provided you can show proof of purchase.

And their fans despite the colour are among some of the better ones in the market.

So Yeah I have no idea why people would trust this brand and buy into it even at the best part of 80 quid.

My eyes bleed reading that. Any chance of some punctuation? Not picking on you personally mate, but Spie used to emphasise about the grammar and spelling people used in their C.V. It appears this has gone out of the window now as some of the posts in here are truly awful!

I don't see your point about metal fins failing, nor the relevance of a power surge. Your statement about them sending new fittings for newer chipsets is also a little confusing for people, as it tends to be a socket change or mounting hole arrangement change that causes such a need.

As for the Noctua - its a fantastic cooler. However, the innovative 'rough' cooling plate sounds like an excuse to not bother making a decent smooth surface.

Hate to agree as I think ocuk are a great bunch, but I flinch every time I see the "lightening" thread...

I think they are a great bunch, Rich particularly goes above and beyond what anyone would expect (in my experience) too. However, the standards of posting for a professional company are sometimes really rather poor.

Those fans and the blades remind me a lot of the Silver Arrow fans, but with knobbly corner bits stuck on.

I'm also a little confused by the idea behind a rough contact heat plate. Surely you want less thermal compound between the CPU and cooler because it's not as good at conducting heat as metal. Rough contact sounds like it's almost purposely making gaps to be filled by thermal compound?

I applaud the extreme cooling section, excellent idea. However, there's a pretty serious flaw in the lineup, namely a lack of Thermalright.

Other than that, NH-D15 looks awesome, not sure why the same old brown fans debate is still a thing. Noctua use their own distinctive colours, if they lost enough sales from people who really dislike the colour scheme enough to buy something else then they'd have rectified it ages ago. Price is about as expected, it's a premium product from a premium manufacturer at a premium price. As always, you pay for the brand name, but you also pay for quality and performance, I'm sure Noctua won't disappoint those in the market for this kind of cooler.

you need to remember how the "Nocuta NH-D14 with ONE viper fan" peforms though mate. This should smash it.

Thermalright dont have a huge range available at the moment sadly. trying to get that rectified.

Must be breaking records for an air cooler ... with that price! And "rough contact plate" aren't we always striving for a smoother and smoother finish for better contact?

To be clear, as part of a purchase for a Noctua cooler, you get very high levels of support for what is essentially a product that really doesn't require much support infrastructure.

as much as I hate to admit it, a vast majority of our heatsink range is brands that are not willing to support end users any more than their regions legal requirements dictate.

Noctua have traditionally offered FOC upgrade kits to end users directly. This is brilliant for two reasons.

1. the end users get new direct mounting kit for the warranty period of their purchase.
2. the end users dont burden the retailer with aftersales support request because noctua deal with it all. [and do a pretty decent job of it tbh]

I am the kind of user [and i know a lot of enthusiasts share my viewpoint on this] that appreciates high levels of service and aftercare when purchasing an expensive item.

Noctua understand their market well and know that people smashing a load of money on an essential item still want the level of support they expect from a VGA or CPU vendor.

a 6 year manufacturer warranty for any computer component is mental really

Fair points rich :) The warranty is hardly outstanding when you've got is a solid object though is it? It's not a complex piece of electronics, it has fans!

To be fair to corsair, their memory has a cracking warranty and I've found their RMA service to be good also!

The free socket adapter kit is good though, not sure any others do that?

Beast cooler as usual from Noctua. As always though the colour scheme puts me off. Interested to see how it performs but personally speaking id rather have a (potentially worse performing) Phanteks cooler and pick the colour scheme of my choice.

I tried both the NH-D14 and the Phanteks PH-TC14PE and cooling was very similar, but more importantly the Phanteks sounded quieter or smoother, something I put down to having two identical size fans out of the box.

I see the NH-D15 comes with two of the same fan so that may resolve that issue without an expensive fan swap. However I don't think that's enough for me to overlook the colour issue!

Well ontop of the price making your eyes bleed so have I, I think we should charge you for that service. :p

our internet cannot keep up with my clicks :p

I would agree, it is a shame. In fairness it certainly makes them instantly recognisable.

If you want ultimate performance and silence, your case wont have a window so the colour of your cooler is irrelevant.

Sorry, I should have made it clearer.

Only £77.99 inc VAT.

Its the flagship cooler from a premium brand. There is nothing surprising about the price.

HOW MUCH!!! With how bad my CPU is which won't get to 4.3ghz without 1.3v I think this would be wasted on me :)

Thanks for taking it in good humour :) You guys charge enough for your services already - though thankfully now your customer service makes the charges reasonable. Something that couldn't have been said a couple of years ago! I also don't think its that expensive, you get what you pay for with coolers. This opinion may change when other retailers get stock however........ lets see how competitive you are :)

Its undoubtedly a good cooler, I had the NH-D14 for some time before changing to a smaller case.... then back to a bigger case and now have a H100 with external res. This I find more than adequate.

I don't understand people who hate the colour of the fans. Its kind of a trademark of Noctua to have that fugly sunday pub trot raffle ticket colour ;)
