I see brown fans and I think someone paid over the odds for two bits of injection moulded plastic and an electric motor. And still ended up with brown fans.

Barring incompetent designs all fans run on the same basic principles of rotation speed = noise = airflow and pressure.

The ONLY thing Noctua brings to the table is the colour brown.

I think Noctua were the people to bring us fluid bearing fans, and even now not many other companies seem to do them. I find them much quieter, and they never wear and get noisy like fans with ball/sleeve bearings eventually do. They don't have that slightly buzzy sound quality that ball/sleeve fans often do. I've had some going for ten years that are still quiet and efficient.

Yes the colour is silly, but if you can get past that or if you can't see the fans in your case, they are really excellent.

Really?

Shame OCUK don't sell them then.

There were NO Noctua CPU coolers shown in that video available with black fans, just some stand alone fans targeted "at industrial users".

I might be interested in that noise cancelling cooler shown at the end, mainly due to the fact it utilizes a shroud, which happily also conceals what's underneath it.

And I never said there was, I said they do black fans. :)

Did not read like that to me, fans all have different performance and that includes noise.

Read to me you were claiming they are all the same basically.

Noctua has not escaped the rules of performance = noise = rotation speed. Or that it's a very simple product.

And I invite you to spot the premium fans in this lineup done in fairly credible neutrality: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums...0mm-Fan-Testing-on-an-MCR120-Radiator-Round-6

I don't buy black OEM fans for my case but since it's all lights and glitter once the motor and bearing doesn't make funny noises and the blade design is competent at moving air I did go for colour matching which did cost a premium.

I aint a Noctua fanboy BTW, the colours are horrid.

But they do decent hardware, not as good as some claim as you can get similar/better.

My answer to noise is get fast/high airflow fan and control it when not needed.

I do not care if its a bit loud during BF4 etc so long as quite at idle.

My case has switch with 3 setting and CPU does it through Bios, Speedfan does not seem to be updated and has an issue with Z87 and Intel's newer Mobo drivers, instant BSOD for me an many when Speedfan loads.

He knows about it but not sure if he is even alive or well.

got to agree tbh...

They really do a great job in the heatsink...

But tbh, their quality on fans is going down throughout the years...

Comparing with fans like GT1850, they aren't the king anymore

Yeah hoping so but if a massive delay ill cancel my order and go with an alternative! Want something new in place before ds2 on Friday!

Weight (without fan): 1000 g
Weight (with fans): 1320g

Still amazes me that boards can support this weight with everything else on them.

There is next to no strain on the Mobo as that is what the backplate is there for and then the Mobo is screws to case with at least 9 screws.

slight delay on the new cooler - should be here tomorrow.

we have limited stock until the end of the month.

enough to cover back orders currently but will run out quickly at this rate.

I notice that there are quite a few posts about the colour of the fans on the Noctuas. When I upgraded 2+ years ago, I wanted the Phanteks PH-TC14PE for that very reason - I could choose the colour I wanted, but at that point, they were on pre-order with an unknown release date, so I went for the Noctua NH-D14 with the hope of changing the fans for something else and after a lot of cursing, managed to do it.

Someone asked me for some pictures and performance results in an old thread I started a while back which can be found here:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18357011

I don't know how the temps compare with the original fans, but I've been happy with it. So, it is possible to have the Noctua heatsink, (the NH-D14 at least) without the brown fans.

Saying that, if I didn't have a window on my case, I wouldn't have minded....:p
