Non stick pans.. that last!

They asked for a photo of the top and bottom of the pan and they replied almost immediately saying there were signs that I had used too much heat.

I'd be tempted to go back to them and ask them to define "too much heat" in an actual celcius figure, and then go further to ask exactly how they are able to determine that from two photos.

So I think I have found the holy grail with non stick stuff.

Was fed up with Teflon coatings going Pete Tong and food sticking.

Been through several Woks now (5 or 6) and took delivery of a Ninja anodised Wok today.

Lets just say I should I have got this from the very start! Build quality is something else.

Magic

The holy grail is stainless steel. You can’t get any better. Heat it, water test, oil and you you’re ready to go.

It’ll outlast everything as well. Same can be said for a well seasoned cast iron pan.

Professional kitchens uses stainless and carbon steel and they cook all day everyday. Some of these pans have been used for decades so imagine the same pan in domestic use, it’s going to be a life time.

Which is why I don’t get any kind of coating non-stick pans now for frying. I fry eggs in my wok or cast iron, both have a layer of seasoning so thick i wash it with soap and water like regular pans.

Definitely don't use any Teflon pans, it's not good for you at all, it was banned a fair few years ago.

Yeh there's nothing wrong with modern nonstick coatings health wise, assuming you buy a decent brand rather than something dodgy.

The longevity of the coating is a different subject.

My eaziglide stuff looks as new one year later.

apart from one of the baking trays but that's because I keep cutting pizza on it with a metal roller

Never stick 2 on the pizza trays.

a neverstick 3 casserole pot thats perfect so far, I've never tested if it gets stained from oven use though

and a neverstick+ roasting tray I never used.

The pizza trays are great and hold heat really well.

I got mine in John Lewis, they had ninja non stick etc too but eaziglide seemed the best build quality and weight.

So far mine are lasting as new apart from the one pizza tray I abused

Your correct it was a substance in teflon that was bad.
Yeah, PFOA was the chemical. Modern PTFE/Teflon coatings for pans are free of it and have been for years (China though...)

Stupidily bought a Go Cook wok (Tesco's own brand I guess?) a couple of weeks ago. Was crap, didn't heat right, bottom wasn't flat (oil would form a circle round the edge of the bottom at the upturn). To top it off cleaning the hob this weekend, it's ****ing put scratches into the hob glass. Fuming, wasn't even that cheap.

Just ended up ordering another Tefal Titanium+.

Tesco cant make anything good in my experience, everything they do has low quality running through its DNA

Next set will be stainless, taking cycling through quite a few brands of non stick for partner to finally agree to it. Ninja, Circulon and procook just don't seem to last, always hand wash them as well.

I just buy the thick based IKEA frying pans in a selection of sizes. They're great when new, and I just replace them when they get annoying to use after 2 or 3 years of being hammered in the dishwasher.

I'll spend that ~ £30 per year if it means spending less time messing about with cleaning and seasoning pans. I really don't care about having a pan last 20 years.

Yeah I'm well disappointed in my ninja one, guess I fell for the marketing rubbish.
I'm slowly using more and more stainless. Scared of cooking a piece of fish in it though.
