noob needing spec check

i have to say that for the games i currently have and i can forsee in the future the zotac will be more than enough. plus as mentioned before it looks nice

Also has a long 5 year warranty if you register the card within 14 days of purchase.

ok so graphics card and the cpu cooler are sorted.

items gathered so far

motherboard
250g temporary hdd
temporary disc drive
case
cpu

bits to gather

ram memory
cpu cooler
graphics card
psu
various fans and filters.

i reckon 2-3 months and it will be ready to be assembled. ill then upgrade the disc drive and have a blu ray and also upgrade the hdd to a 1tb item and possibly get a ssd

:) I would get the cooler/PSU/RAM first, as in 2-3 months there maybe the new Nvidia cards out by then and prices may plummet on the existing range.

christ they bring out new cards way too often. i wouldnt be surprised that in the time it takes for me to order a card and for it to be delivered it would be out of date.

i may buy the cooler ram and psu in one go as they the total for those isnt to bad so that will be a nice day.

23rd march is the next pay day

Buy the cooler/psu next as they wont become obsolete/replaced like a GFX card can in 2-3 months.

possibly a bit of a dumb question but, im using an old 250gb hdd to get me up and running, ill then buy a 1tb later on.

if i install the operating system with the 250gb drive will it cause problems when i come to remove it and i install the 1tb hdd? obv i will transfer all data but im not sure if it will cause problems with the operating system if they are installed onto the hdd.

You will want to do another fresh installation onto the new drive, remember to keep anything (pictures/Mp3 etc) onto a thumb drive from the old drive.

Or you can attach the old drive to the system, boot into the OS on the new one and drag the files across, then format the old drive and use it as extra storage?

i may keep it tbh as a back up but i will want the os to run off an ssd so it loads quicker. i think ill be better off just purchasing an ssd (around 120gb) to start with and then install a 1tb hdd later on to replace or assist the 250gb
