Nostalrius Begins - Vanilla WoW

The thing with classic WoW is that once you've had your fill of nostalgia with quests and zones the raids are dull as hell, the only thing worth doing on a Private Server would be Naxxramas and given the extremely slow and buggy release of content from the Nos devs that wont be for a very long time.

Miss Miss Dodge is all i'm seeing at the moment!

Level 39 Orc Shaman now called Dappadon.

Staying at 39 as I don't have 100g for my mount yet :P

Remember you need to level your weapon skills in Vanilla!

My first toon was a rogue, it was a pain in the bum levelling all the different weapon skills (dagger, sword, mace).

I haven't had a chance to log on since creating my character. Hopefully tonight.

I'm actually enjoying ESO at the moment. Some of the dungeons are nails and the economy/crafting is so much better than wow's ever was. Plus the community is a lot friendlier :)

There's nothing wrong with BWL or AQ40. MC wasn't really very interesting but as it was most people's first raiding experience and Blizzard's first attempt at a raid, it's not bad.

I actually preferred the game when it was simpler instead of the contrived mechanics and dps rotations you get now.

BWL was fun the 1st few times times you run it sure (BRM is my favourite raid 'hub' for a start), AQ40 is horrendous, to big, ****** bosses and crap looking gear.

Nearly as bad as the GM's on Nos porting players into raid instances, being dodgy with lockouts, giving out loot to their guildmates etc. These sorts of shenanigans are pretty commonplace on private servers, and is the reason I personally stay away from them.

Yeh definitely, although I've never witnessed this on Nos. Sure it happens though!

It was at the start when MC was released, massive thread on their forums about it - should still be there unless its been deleted. I fully expect the same **** will happen when they finally release BWL (6 months behind their release schedule is it?), and when they release AQ40 in a year etc etc.

Seeing as this thread is still here. Anyone who wants to replay wotlk. Check out Dalaran-wow.

2 realms. Main realm is progressive raiding. Ulduar wont unlock till you clear naxx. Etc.
Ulduar is out. Togc is due to enter beta testing if it hasnt already.

Few buggy quests here and there, but its retail leveling speed with working 1-60 Refer a friend and Random dungeon finder. No pay 2 win cash shop. Also has a vote point system for heirlooms, should you want them.

Well, must say, I enjoyed Nostalrius, enjoyed playing WoW as it was back in the early days and reliving some of my early retail memories.

Kudos as well to the people running Nostalrius and also to the other players. Was good to see several thousand people running around.

Sadly and some would say, predictably, Blizzard have launched legal proceedings against them and as a result, Nostalrius will be shutdown tomorrow. Even so, was a fun trip down memory lane.

Didn't even know this was a thing... Feel like i missed out as i joined at TBC , Nevertheless, i'm sure there'l be a replacement eventually, it'll just take time.

Typical Blizz, do they think stopping a vanilla server will bring players back to the abortion of the main content? Doubt it.

I think it's just a matter of principle, according to Ars:
"isn’t an issue because of ‘lost’ subscription fees from players choosing these illegitimate servers over the real WoW servers—it simply boils down to the fact that private servers are illegal, and that’s that."

Although as pointed out, why they've targeted Nostalrius specifically, when there are loads of others....popularity/notoriety possibly?

And I'm just amazed at how big/expensive their operation was - $500-1000 USD a month and a team of people.
