Not happy at all with GEIL

I bet you the retailer cant find your memory now.

More like they sent it off and got replacements and want to fob you off with £25 and flog the replacements on ebay or something for much more.

The main thing thats got me is that the retailer didn't email me about the situation. I phoned them 8 weeks after they rma'd the ram, then again on the 9th week. On the 10th week I was told they were still waiting for the ram to be returned and were waiting on a overdue delivery from taiwan and was told they would email as soon as the ram arrived.

Now after 12 weeks with still no reply I had to initiate things myself once again by phoning them and asking what was going on. 20 mins later I receive an email telling me I had been credited £25.71 which to me seems a bit dubious.

I am now waiting on a reply from Geil see what they have to say.

Just so you know, after 1 year has passed, the warranty is no longer with the retailer but with the manufacturer and the retailer has nothing to do with it. You should have RMAd it straight to geil and shouldn't even talk to retailer at all at this point. Normally the retailer should just have send the stuff back to you without even touching it because it's your own business to RMA it after the 1st year of warranty.

Not according to trading standards m8 I was told the retailers are the people who I have to deal with because the retailers are the people who I purchased the ram off not geil, no matter how old it is.

I will be phoning trading standards back later today, I just need to hear from the retailer to a reply to the mail I sent last night see if they will send me the ram back.

Now if in anyway they say I can't have the ram back or they say it's been misplaced is there anything I can do about it?

This depends on the agreement the retailer has with geil a retailer only has to honour 12months the lifetime is offered by geil which most times the manufacture will want to deal with issues after 12months at the customers own cost.

Just got in and got this email from the retailer, why couldn't have they just done this 12 weeks ago then I would have had it back from geil and my pc up and running.

Dear Sir

I have cancelled the credit note and made your item for collection, you can pick it up from our "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Shop between the hours of 09:00 and 18:00.

Sorry but £45 - £65 for shipping to taiwan? Wha o0

Theyre having a laugh mate, either pick the ram up or if they too far ask them to send them back to you insured for the full original purchase price.

RMA them to Geil direct which will cost far less than theyre stating

get over it. you got 3 years out of it ffs

Grow up....If I wanted spam I would have gone to the supermarket for it.

I am picking it up I wouldn't want them to post it to me because it would probably take another 12 weeks for them to post it.

GeIL have a lifetime warranty .... I would use that as much as I could if I was in the same situation.

I knew they had a lifetime warranty m8 but when I wanted to rma them back I didn't have the time and I wasn't in the country hence why I asked the retailer to do it for me....thinking they would have it back before I got back home...but they didn't even attempt to send it in the 1st place making me wait 12 weeks and probably more if I didn't keep on phoning them.

Anyway I will be getting them back and I already have my rma number from geil will just wait and see how quick they come back once sent.

Well I'm back just an update.

5 days ago I was told by the returns manager of this certain retailer which I will never use again, that the ram would be posted back to me. I only live 10 miles away from the shop so you would think I would get it back in 2 days at the most!!! well I phoned up Saturday morning to check it was sent out and was told it had been sent out...but funny enough it's still not here so I have just phoned them again and to be told that it's still in the warehouse well what more can I say.

you realise it takes 5 days+ because they have to send it to geil right? ....

Try reading the thread.

It took 12 weeks for him to find out they didnt even send it to them. Thats 60 working days.

2nd, hes asked for the ram to be sent back to him from the retailer, who have admitted they never even sent it to Geil. It doesnt take 5 days for something to be delivered, even if its 2nd class to be honest.

If it was me i would drive there and collect it in person, if its only 10 miles away. Id be sure to have a big rant in the shop and demand compensation. I would also try to persue it with trading standards as this is not on.
