Noteworthy Cars for Sale [Appreciation Thread]

205 GTi

This 205 GTi was converted to its current appearance in 2015, with Terry Pankhurst of Dimma UK carrying out the work, and it is marked as number 3 of a 10-car series of ‘Dimma Signature’ builds – and is a ‘1 of 1’ car with its 2.0 Turbo engine.

I was mildly tempted by this, went for just over £27,000 in the end, guess to some that is cheap been an official DIMMA car, but at same time is also madness for an old 205, I had three of them when younger and as great as they are to put it bluntly a Clio 172 is a better car in every aspect. Still an iconic car!

3 of them why ?

3 of them why ?
If he was anything like my mates when young because they kept sending them through hedges and ditches. So many 205 Gti must have been written off in accidents. Its no wonder there arent that many around anymore and the price is going up. That and nostalgia because of people my age who wanted one but couldnt afford one back then (or could but couldnt afford the insurance)

You can spot a car going up in value by how the numbers of cars on the road increases each year lol

Only 529 1.9gti on the road now but 2500 sorned. About 3k a year was written off each year in the 90s. Doesnt say whether due to rust, no economically viable to repair or crashes though.

205 XS, 205 GTi 1.6 and then a 205 GTi 1.9 :D

I only crashed one of mine, the slower XS model. :D
The GTI's I drove flat out everywhere, back then a B road was abouut VMAX and zero fear or regard for speed limits, but saying that back then the roads were far quieter and in general quality of driving on the road seemed better. Thankfully the top speed in a 205 GTI was around 120mph, though I'd not want to crash one at any high knots of speed, the XS model I crashed sub 30mph from not paying attention to where I was going.

There are some that say the 1.6 is the better handing 206 as the engine was lighter over the front wheels even though it had a bit less power. Opinion on that, having owned both?
