Shutdown Vista, sell your PC and buy a proper Mac so you can use OS X legally

:P

Hah, what I said pre-ninja edit then, wasn't sure if running it in VM ware counted, he does have a suspect DVD mounted though. I didn't mention the selling of his PC, nor Shutting down Vista.

Congratulations you've managed to break the license agreement of mac os x. assuming you bought it. You cannot talk about it on these forums afaik, because your either breaking the law cos you stole it or because you broke the license agreement.

what are you asking?

you've installed mac os x on your overclocked 6600 (which I think is illegal as said above and in countless threads on here) and are asking now what

Can someone put a sticky at the top of this forum stating the rules about people running mac os x on pc's

I seem to remember there being one a while ago, but it must've dissapeared sometime ago (maybe when the mac sub-forums were split from the linux ones??)

The last thread like this was more blatent and I did report it as I noticed a lot of others did. I think that was only a week ago? seems like there's a thread of this nature at least once a month

At the moment I guess people can say "I didn't know" or whatever, so how about getting rid of that excuse?

How else is one supposed to experiment with such things as a new OS without spending out thousands on new hardware?

I've heard a lot of good things about Macs recently and figured that it would be good to see what the OS is like for myself and have a play.

This seemed an ideal way to do it and if it's a stepping stone to buying a Mac then what's so bad?

I'll edit my original post to remove the screenshot, but apart from doing this, how is one supposed to evaluate and try out OS X?

Various retailers who stock them, John Lewis, Purple shirt place, Apple Stores, or, a friends, I suppose.

That's a 30 second tryout or at most ten minutes or so. Hardly enough really, is it?

Go to an apple store? Get a friend to show you? (I know at least 10 people in my year that has OS X and then another 10 at work/other places.)

Running it through VMware is really not a way to test a system.

Buy a cheap mac off ebay like my PowerMac G4 that runs 10.4 pretty dam well for a 5 year old machine and will run leopard as well?

Not really, wonder into an Apple store, find someone with a big iCal like 9 on them, "Hey, want you to show me OS X please so I can join the herd", boom! He/she is now showing you the key features, you then have a little play and go home with a new toy. :p

None of my friends within an hours drive have Macintoshes.

Im pretty sure one of those friends has a friend with one.

As if people that are 17/18 who arn't rich without proper jobs have them im sure you lot with jobs do.

Edit: i was playing with a MBP in an apple store for 30 mins before deciding I wanted one..
