Hi Darren

Yes that's the one. Looking forward to putting it all together. Will have a go over the weekend, wont be able to complete it until I pick up my graphics card towards end next week though. :(

I have been tempted to that kit at that price week or so ago,
I can't wait to see the build :)

I caved and bought a new power supply (silverstone 650w one) just so I can properly cable manage. Or at least have a better shot at it than the solid EVGA cables I had on the current PSU. So it's a weekend of more cable fun for me.

Justified by another PSU having fried, so I can take the current one and put it in that rig, and get the new(ish) and better cables for my rig.

Seems you can get custom cables easily enough for either Silverstone or Corsair, but EVGA power supply cables are as rare as rocking horse poop unless you want to test out the etsy type chinese suppliers.

Just looking for some guidance on how to get the best thermals with my set up, Arctic Freezer II 280mm (Intake), 2 x Slim Kaze Flex (Bottom Intake), and 2 x Slim Kaze Flex (Top Exhaust). Idle temps on my CPU range from Mid 40s to Mid 50s, is that normal? Running a R5 3600XT

Hi Relentless

Yes that is the idea. Had a start at installing all, however stopped at the cables and powersupply. Looked at the number of cables and went nope for this evening.

Sounds interesting look forward to the completed build, in the GearSeekers video he stated dont do it due to poor thermals so I'm wondering if you see the same issue or if its absolutely fine with the TG panel. I guess it will come down to the thickness of the GPU

Yeah it doesnt look too bad and I'm curious about it because you can fit full size fans and 240 AIO to the bottom of the case but I'm going to stick with air cooling.

I'm going to return the slim Noctua fans, really not impressed with them for the cost and my temps appear to have been consistently 2 degrees higher under load using them and they sound annoying over 1000rpm to my ears

I think I'm going to just go with a Big Shurikan 3 in my build and put a 25mm fan on it and be done with it for the CPU cooler and leave the intakes off as temps and noise are better

Im just finding the cabling to be a bit daunting. I have never had an ITX case before, my current system is in a corsair 750d, so loads of room to work in. :)

Does anyone have any examples of the Scythe Mugen 5 fitted with the TG panel? Trawled the internet and there is just one example in this thread I'm not sure I want to risk it off one example due to tolerances but if there are more examples then I'm sure it'll be fine

A lot of people picking Scythe seem to go for the Fuma 2, both seem the same height. It depends on the cooler you get and the motherboard you have. Due to slight variances it either JUST about fits, or it can't close the case fully. I think i haven't seen more Mugen 5 ones.

hello

has anyone (with the non-tempered glass version) tried using the side fans as exhaust and top fans as intake?

  • the Machines & More Youtube video does not cover side fans, since he was using a Noctua U12A (even though I believe you can still mount a 140mm directly to the side without the bracket).
  • wonder if usbnig side fans as exhaust is better for thermals, given that non-blower style GPUs will exhaust air all around the middle of the case. So side exhaust fans would get them out ASAP, then the top fans can intake fresh air to the CPU.
  • The only area where this creates conflicting airflow is the PSU, since the standard PSU orientation is to exhaust out the top. So having top fans blowing air in would be going against the PSU airflow (then again, not sure how powerful a PSU exhaust fan is - the 120mm fan probably wins every single time).
  • Unless we flip the PSU around so that the cables are plugged in near the top and the PSU exhausts out the bottom? not sure if there's enough space between the 120mm fan and all the cables going into the PSU.

Yeah the Fuma 2 is the same, one guy said the tips of the heat pipes are touching the glass, I'll rule the Mugen 5 out I think, not worth the bother

Cheers for confirming. Will have another go and cabling later today. Want to get all fitted apart from the graphics card.

Does anyone know if the sticker on the M2 drive should be removed before installing?

M.2 Label/warranty
along the top of the chips, leave it no reason to take it off :)

Taking it off will end warranty & also I have seen the
surface mounted chips come off with the label
