Is this where we're at now, throw 700/800 notes at something and you don't even know what it is!?

Sorry but that's mental

Not really I can always cancel or return if I really can't work with it. I can do without a few notes for a few days. How many of you have outstanding pre orders with OCUK where they took your money months ago. Isn't that more mental?

hello everyone, first time builder here
I have some inquires i hope you can help me with
1- the heatsink included with the nvme ssd, should I install it while using my mb heatsink or just use my motherboard heatsink only, i have asus rog strix b550i
sVaCxwF.jpg
2- I am planning to use 4 case fans, 2 bottom and 2 top
I have fuma 2 so total 6 fans, my mb have 3 headers but 1 is for aio and runs full speed according to the manual so if I connected the cpu cooler fans to cpu header. How can I connect the other 4 case fans?

I'm getting used to the temps. Much like @tony888 I'm coming from an intel that ran fairly cool in comparison to the Zen 3. Maybe its an AMD thing...maybe its my cooler (140w TDP though and only 65w CPU)....maybe its both.

Intel would idle in the high 30's/low 40s. Gaming would be in the mid/high 60s, occasionally spike and hit 70-71.

AMD idle anywhere from 50-60c. Played control for about an hour at 1440p max settings, DLSS and RTX on. CPU in the low 70s range avg 50% utilization. Core clocks at 4.2ghz most of the time @ 1.18v. So a little warmer range than Intel...sure mid 70s is acceptable but was used to high 60s and that 50-60 idle temp is super weird/new to me.

I had this exact same issue with this cooler (I went from a 6600k to 3600). I found the issue is due to the cold plate of the cooler not being flat, rather it is a convex coldplate that works well on intel. On AMD the contact patch is away from the chiplets and nowhere near full even coverage. Eventually I had to swap out the cooler with my old shadow rock lp which was significantly (10 degrees) cooler on my AMD CPU. I did consider lapping the cold plate to flatten it, but eventually just bought a different cooler.

@far from home hey i have the same SSD, 2tb version. and the same mobo...i actually installed that little heatsink AND the mobo one...noticed when i tightened the screw down the ssd started to flex/bow. Removed the included on and just using the mobo heatsink.

@Zagreus yeah I've read that too. Gaming now it stays in the 70s which is fine by me. Even with the more aggressive fan curve the system is dang quiet. This is strictly with Port royal benchmark, time spy benchmark. I've been playing a lot of Control, just beat it in fact and temps were in the mid 70s for the CPU and mid 60s for the GPU.

Going to play Resident Evil 3 now and maybe replay through Doom Eternal and Wolfenstein Youngblood.

Looking Good @JClarke ! I just ran Heaven 4.0 with my 5600x and evga 3080 @ 1440p CPU and not sure which CPU temp people typically report. Is it CPU (Tctl/Tdie)? CPU Die avg? CCPU CCD? CPU Package? CPU?

I got 130fps, Score of 3256, quality ultra, tess extreme. CPU tctl/tdie avg 69, max 81

Time Spy 1440p DX12 - 14619 total score, CPU tctl/tdie avg 74, max 81.

Sure its within CPU tolerances, and maybe I'm used to my intel which ran much cooler. Going to check the mounting of the heatsink. Also considering getting one of those ID Cooling 224xt or 234ARGB coolers per Machines and More suggestion.

Am I making too big a deal about temps?

Im getting idle temps around the 50 mark with spikes to 60. Was at about 75c when running prime95. Noctua nh-u9s on 5950x

Thanks @tripkebab for that. Yeah the more I read the more this seems to be the norm for the Zen 3. I ordered a 234ARGB anyways to test and see if it 1) fits with TG flush closed, 2) as quiet as my cryorig h7, 3) gets my temps down a few degrees. I'm skeptical...but this is the part of PC tinkering.

@JClarke the fact that someone squeezed that GPU in there is impressive.

I have a suggestion for all of you guys
I live in Malaysia and there is an online website called shopee(like amazon) I noticed some sellers from Taiwan have rtx 3070 cards for as low as 588$ for msi gaming x trio and the reviews are OK for the same shop.
what put me off is that they don't provide warranty for international buyers but I believe their products are legit according to the reviews so you guys may try buying from Taiwan.

for malaysia
the prices are kind of bad, at first I wanted to buy an rtx 2060 super 392$ but I back out until it was sold out kind of regretting it, others selling way more than that
the option i have now is msi gaming mx 5600xt for 318$ since rtx 2000 are no longer available or overpriced.
rtx 3070 range from 600$ to 800$

I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the 234

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone could help with a bit of advice. I have an NR200P on back order which I plan to use with the mesh side panel. I also have on order a 280mm Kraken X63 which will be mounted on the side panel. I am just debating motherboard choices, in particular the Crosshair VIII Impact DTX. The board itself appears to fit just fine and I can find several builds that have done this, also builds with NR200 + 240 AIO + Impact DTX.

What I can't find is someone that has done a 280mm AIO in the same chassis with the DTX board. My only concern is the SODIMM2 Card that extends out from the DTX board to house the M.2 drives. I can see some photos here of a 240mm AIO build with this board and you can see the DTX daughterboard sticking out but it doesn't clash with the AIO. Does anyone know if this would also be okay with a 280mm?

If you see the photo above you can see the daughterboard just below the AIO pump and it seems to have enough clearance. Sorry for the very niche question :)

Hello Guys,

Been reading for quite a time A LOT on the subject and finally pulled the trigger on the following :

NR200P White
Rog Strix B550i (for the lower cpu slot and to allow clearance for a top left fan)
Ryzen 5600x
CoolerMaster V750 sfx (hardest part to get surprisingly)
16go Ballistix Ram
1to nvme ssd
Still waiting to find a 3080 (preferably one I can easily deshroud and that gives a nice flat plate)

Now on the cooling part, and that's the reason of my message :

My plan is to go with the mesh panel, an NH C14s with the given 140mm fan mounted on the side panel as intake, pushing fresh air toward the C14 and an additional 120mm below pulling the air towards the MOBO.

2x fan at the bottom below the (deshrouded) 3080 as intake
2x fan on top as exhaust

I don't want to go with AIO because it's my first build in 15 years + not quite confident with all the running parts in the pump + noise + the 5600x is not that hot.

Here's my several questions :

In the 99 page of this discussion I've only seen a couple message on the NH C14s, does anyone have more feedback on this ?

Do you think it can be detrimental to the C14 airflow to have an exhaust fan mounted on the top left of the case, I'm thinking that it can prevent some fresh air coming from the side of the case to reach the mobo ?

Is there any benefit to have a small fan at the back of the case?

Is there any benefit to have another fan on the side next to the 140mm facing the PSU (either exhaust or intake ) ?

As more insights the PC will be quite far from me (2m) as it will be for a living room setup.

Sory for the long long message, I'll appreciate if any one of you can help me finish my setup :)
