Nvidia 310.54 Beta driver released

dumb question are these specific to the 680?

what do you mean that depends on what h/w you use?

So far it looks like the performance increase is applicable to the 680, hope that's wrong because if true it's a very bad trick to play.

Need someone with a 680 to test bf3 and someone with a 670, to see if this 16% increase is across all cards or just the 680, it does not apply to 480's that's for sure.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg

Done with a small overclock on BF3 Operation swordbreaker (as per the link LtMatt used)

+122 core +420 mem

Didn't feel any smoother ;)

Without running the test multiple times, it looks to be the same performance (at least in the SP). 2fps increase on minimum and 7 fps less on max. I am not doing the test time and time again though to get the averages :p

670 here and performance is down a bit in bf3. Ill probably just roll back to the previous whql set i was using.

How did you test it and how many times did you repeat the test?

I would try it myself but I currently have an issue that makes restarting my PC very impractical.

Couple of heaven runs on my known stable settings, also seeing drops into the high 40's on bf3 mp, something ive never seen with previous drivers.

I hope it's not nvidias time for bad drivers while amd storm ahead.

I think it's good nvidia get's a kick in the ballsack as it will benefit everyone. From what I understand they dominated last generation with GTX580 single card wise. It's great to see that AMD stepped up their game.

And yes this comes from a guy that's about to buy a 670/680 :p

There is no way that every card will get a massive increase across the board, with these things it is always under certain circumstances and settings.

•Performance Boost – Increases performance for GeForce 400/500/600 Series GPUs in several PC games vs. GeForce 306.97 WHQL drivers. Results will vary depending on your GPU and system configuration:

Then it goes on to list some 680 and 660 benefits

Surely these must just be some examples of best case improvements, as there is no way they can list every possible improvement scenario.

AMD must do the same as well else the release info would be loads of pages in length.

edit: the fact that they call them 'Release highlights' would suggest that it is just the best bits.

I only had a 2fps increase. But without having a consistent way of testing it results will vary. 64 Player TDM Noshair Canals:

No crashes with bf3, but a strange issue where im still capped to 59fps in bf3, despite having vsync off in driver and game menu, no frame limit set in afterburner osd either.

Sounds like an issue your end. Check your CFG file and Nvidia inspector.

Epic fail, was indeed the cfg file Rusty,:o had it set to 59 in there. Memory is starting to get worse the older i get lol.:D

You realise these are beta drivers right?
Beta drivers can have bugs, that is why they are called beta.

They are for people who want the best performance in said games (BO2/AC3) and don't want to wait for the final debugged release as those will take longer. I don't think I've ever installed a piece of software labelled 'beta' and expected it to echo the quality of the final release.
