Nvidia 320.18 WHQL Display Driver is Damaging GPUs

As far as i know Nvidia still have not pulled them(which they did very quickly last time when things blew), So as I see it I am still thinking it is maybe getting blown out of proportion.

Even if they are not damaging GPU's, where there is GFX corruption its pretty bad. add that to other problems.

no one is denying there is something wrong with those Drivers, that alone is reason for it to get pulled.
Pulling those drivers is tantamount to admitting something is wrong with them, something Nvidia don't want is there 'near perfect' drivers idea stamped out.

The idea of driver superiority something their fanbois / shills also desperately want maintained.

So you accept that those claiming this driver damaged their GPU could be telling the truth.

I really don't understand how nvidia managed to release a driver in this state :/

From whats been said officially so far it passed all in house & WHQL testing but that was done using reference cards at stock clocks, so its *possible* that the driver is having issues with changes 3rd party manufacturers have made to their cards, or that whatever its doing to cards it more apparent on ones already running overclocked (or both, or neither, lol).

Yes, of course I accept that it is a possibility just like I accept that it is possible that the earth could be hit by a massive asteroid at any moment

until I see compelling evidence to support such a claim I will remain doubtful

and until such time I will continue to try to help people having problems by suggesting they try 314.22 instead or such

I reserve the right to respond to histrionics from people who don't even own an nvidia card

From what I have seen of these drivers I don't think they damage cards, having said that I am not a fan of the entire 320.XX family of drivers.

If you are using a single card these drivers do seem to allow for slightly higher overclocking. You do also see corruption at very high overclocks (reminds me of overclocking a HD 7970) but only at speeds beyond what you can achieve with other drivers.

For multi GPU setups I find these drivers are not always that good when overclocking as they seem to cause instability.

Pointing out the obvious "when overclocking you run the risk of damaging your hardware". I think these scare stories may have started with someone using old hardware on it's way out that failed possibly while overclocked. As I pointed out earlier this family of drivers (not just 320.18) allow you to overclock to higher levels.

Edit

Oh damn I have just realised the rig I am typing this on is using 320.18 at the moment lol.:D:p:)

No offence, but the temps I saw when running 320x could very easily have fried my GPU. Sorry, but that's just how it was. I was hitting an easy 85-90c - and this was only after a couple of hours playing bf3 with my fan profile running full power.

The amount of AMD vs Nvidia bashing that has gone on in this thread has added useless pages to its length; can we please just try to stay on the topic of the nvidia drivers to enable us nvidia users to pop in here for useful info/updates without trawling through pages of what is clearly just people (you know who you are) arguing their same tired opinions over and over.

As I said to you before one of those in the GeForce forum claiming GFX corruption even after switching back to 314.22 was using a GTX 780.

And yes there are also a lot of people seeing very high temperatures on the full range of Nvidia GPU's with these drivers, some reporting way over 90c.
I think all these things are related and its possible that whatever is causing those temperatures is stressing the GPU to the point where something gives.

Nvidia need to pull these drivers.

As E3 is on, I was expecting some news as to these, as June was mentioned by Thracks. Please don't read more into it than what is there.

If there was any news of it do you really think that it would not have been posted already.

Are you waiting in excruciating anticipation to dump your SLI Titans and go CF.
