Just sold 2 x Radeon 7970 Ghz gpus and bought the Nvidia 780Ti, seen that the 3d vision is £110 and i know it will work with my Asus VG278HE monitor

Just wondered if its worth the invest of the 3d vision kit

I once did use nvidia 3d vision but now i just don't use it, but then again i'm on the first 3d vision kit (maybe it's improved with 3d vision 2.0?) too much eye strain for me, ghosting was annoying, was ok at first, the 3d gimmick wore off, but i can rate the higher refresh rates like 120Hz.

yeah love playing games at 144hz .. although some games like skyrim are buggy at that speed so end up having to change the rez down to 60hz

I love watching 3d movies on our sony TV , not sure how i would feel after a 4 hour bash gaming though

Are the glasses comfortable? i have sony active shutter specs for main tv and after a couple of hours the bridge of nose hurts

Play the right games and you'll love it!

Try:

Tomb raider
Crysis 2 & 3
Trine 2 (for a side scroller its epic in 3d!!)
All 3 of the batman games

And many others, if you open nvcp and click the 3dvision bit it lists all games and grades them from 'ready' all the way down to 'poor' so you know which games are worth giving a try in 3d.

Metro2033, Metro LL, Tomb Raider 2013, Witcher 2, Call of Duty Black Ops are all stunning in 3D if you've got the horsepower to run them. If you've got the monitor already then I'd give it a go.

I have all these games :) so think ill give it a go then thanks

i defo have the hardware and love the Batman games, even the latest origin game despite its bugs :)

I'm currently playing through Arkham Origins in 3D (albeit with a passive LG 27" 3D TV/Monitor as I didn't like active when I tried it, due to flicker), and loving it.

Played through AC1, Max Payne 3, Singularity, (some) Skyrim, Outlast, and others, and really enjoy it.

So, I can't speak for 3DVision itself, but I am one of those who enjoys certain games in 3D, so would say yes :)

It's great in some games, not so much in others. Does add a lot more immersion to games. Walking through Skyrim whilst snow is falling in front of you, and walking through the dungeons is a much cooler experience for it.

It's definitely something you need to try for yourself at the very least.

Yeah, go for it then start saving for Oculus rift. Why not enable 3d vision discover in the control panel and slap on a pair of those cardboard blue, red lens goggles, it gives the 3D effect, then imagine that effect improved 100 times and you'll get the idea. Assetto Corsa is also stunning in 3d. Check out the Assetto Corsa thread for a few 3D pics I put up with 3D vision discover. Here's the link, just scroll down to see the pics.

I have the asus vg278 and a gtx 780 ghz card. 3d is worth it imo.

You have the monitor so might as well get the most features that your card comes with.

Best games imo are all the batmans, max payne 3, tomb raider, metro games, crysis 2 and 3, dues ex hr, just cause 2, mafia 2, sleeping dogs, battlefield 3.

Those games work pretty well and then you could use 3d to ignite some energy in older games like the call of duty games and I like playing fear 1 in 3d. Dead space 2 and 3 are awesome in 3d with fixes from Helix.

Go here to get fixes for games that need them. Credit to Helix.

And then there are movies. I am using total media theatre 6 to watch blu ray 3d movies.

I watched Kung fu panda 2, avatar, monster house, how to train your dragon and pacific rim this week. Pacific rim and avatar are showcases imo.

Go for it.:D

My GTX 780 ti will arrive tomorrow, just bolted on the Nvidia vision kit

Excited now thanks for all the Links and advice certainly swayed me

i couldnt use 3d on my monitor before because i was in the AMD camp lol

i hope I'm not making a mistake switching to nvidia lol
:(

By the way how did you get 3D movies working on PC?? i have windows 8.1 and i have had issue playing retail blu rays on PC!! even std

Sorry its off topic

I am one of the biggest 3D fans going and would say go for it but.... Not everyone can get on with 3D and it can make them sick/headaches. I would buy online and give it a massive play in the games that PGI mentioned (Dirt 3 looks very good as well), if you like it, keep it and if you don't send it back. You have lost postage and nothing more :)

Nvidia do put a lot of work into 3D gaming and should be commended for it :)

Metro might look great in 3D, but it's not practical considering how demanding the game is...you'd need another 780Ti for playing properly (or just better) for that.

do the Nvidia cards struggle with metro then?, it used to fly on my AMD 7970 Ghz ed

i suppose thats because it wasn't trying to render 2 x 1080p visuals at same time

might SLI another 780TI after christmas ;)

Pay no attention to Marine. The thing with 3D is, it doesn't use AA, as this kills (or does something to the effect) and what you lose in doubling the image, you mostly gain back from turning off AA.

I run a single Titan and Metro runs sweet as. Nothing looks jagged either.

Woot...that's was rather rude...what wrong with you lately Greg? You are going full throttle bigging up AMD issues, and now you are bashing down any potential short-coming/negative on Nvidia...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but even if without AA, using 3D vision would still cut the frame rate by half no?
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_780_Ti/18.html
So the 780Ti get average frame rate of 78fps at 1920 res with no AA in Metro LL...with 3D vision enabled, the average frame rate would be 39fps...and minimum frame rate would be like what...around 25fps?

Your opinion of running "sweet" is rather subjective don't you think? Personally I'd rather play without 3D but with twice the frame rate.
