Nvidia 3d vision .. Worth it ??

Yer, the only difference is the glasses are bigger. The lightboost is what comes with your screen.

Money saved then as I'll just carry my v1 kit over to the new screen :)

Hurry up gsync, nvidia are taunting me with emails about it already being released but its not :(

From what I know the cables themselves are capable of handling 120 Hz (the new cables) but the sockets built into devices at both ends (i.e. the GPU and the monitor) are not yet the upgraded to the new HDMI standard.

Think of it like HDMI single link as opposed to dual link :p. That kind of concept... (although that isn't technically the difference that is the idea).

Dvi cables are cheaper too lol

@op,

3D gaming is superb, but, I haven't been playing on 3D for a while as it got the blame for a blocked tear duct on one of my eyes(water just pours out your eye whenever it feels like it, absolute pita).

Don't just rush in initially and play 3D for hours, better off breaking yourself in over a few nights, giving yourself a few breaks in between, the eye strain is a bit more severe compared to watching movies in 3D.

PowerDVD or True theatre is what you need to watch 3D Bluerays btw may be others though as they are quite expensive.

:)

I believe HDMI isn't capable of running 120Hz but some one will correct me if I am wrong. something about 1.4a or blah blah blah.

HDMI can run 120Hz@720p SBS, FS is capped@24+24fps@1080p=pants iirc.

Have you tried the Lightboost monitors Tommy? It is just like watching a movie with these and I have been able to play for hours from the the day I got my first 3D monitor. I loved it so much I went 3 x 3D monitors :D Not saying everyone can and some just can't do 3D without problems.

My Sammy is Lightboost gregg, it's the exact same tech that's running 3D Vision 2, that's what gets me annoyed that it's locked out of 3D Vision.

Even if I had to buy the Nvidia 3D glasses, that would be ok, but afaik, it's a pita to hack it to work(without the 3D kit), if it still works.:(

Might want to give Anydvd a try with it, it might make it work.

Getting the Blu ray to work do you think i need to drop the refresh rate down to 60hz

or maybe it needs the HDMI in for the copy protection.. what do u guys think? even VLC won't play the discs and that normally plays anything!!
unprotected stuff is ok
Sorry if its off topic a bit but it would be great to play 3d Movies with the Nvidia kit

Probably need HDMI, although DVI-DL should work the protection too.

yes I'm using the DVI-DL cable, if i plugged in both the HDMI and DVI-DL do you think i could just switch channel on the monitor and it'll work?

Again it could just be the AMD card, when i get the GTX 780ti in the morning ill try blu ray again!!

Another tip that may not have been mentioned is upping the digital vibrance a few notches to help with any color loss while using 3d only. I usually set it to 65 in the control panel.

Good call!! the Asus VG278HE monitor is very bright by default !:)

Hey guys.. thanks for all your great advice, i ran the following games in 3D and all i can say is
BLOODY WOW!!!!! i was amazed how good it was

Tomb raider
Crysis 3
Skyrim
Assasin creed 4
Lego Marvel Superheroes

Tried BF4 but as usual it crashed!!!!

lol, BF4 seems to blow over no matter what else you having running. Crock...hope Mantle is worth DICE's time.

Glad you're enjoying it. Annoys me when people rip into it without even owning it. Seems to be a running trend.

Doom 3 BFG is well worth a run through, (the laser sight is very cool) as is LFD2 and Black Mesa (once you add the Helix Mod stuff). As regards to the V1 Monitors I actually really liked the darkness, it felt moody, lol. Unfortunately my New Eizo isn't 3D Vision compatible but i'm sure someone will bring out a PVA 120hz at some point that is.

Your not kidding about BF4 on the AMD cards it crashed all the time!! and looks like no different in the Nvidia camp!!

and like you i get annoyed when people slate it without even seeing it, yes it may drop a few FPS but the immersion is amazing,... even my GF was impressed and she usually switches off when i talk 'puters':p

Tonight I will be putting Batman AO on for a friend, who has to date only played games on PS3.

So I will show him:
A) Batman in 2560x1440
B) Batman in 3D

And you know what... I bet he says he can't see any difference to the PS3 :D
