NVIDIA 4000 Series

Apparently the 4060 and 4050 have been codenamed "Maris Piper" and "King Edward".

Really shouldn't be allowed in a competitive shooters, if some has foliage up to the max that's so dense where you can hide in plain sight and some have it close to off and you don't know who running what it's pretty close to built in cheating as far as I'm concerned. Someone may hide in foliage thinking no one can see me but really you may as well be standing out in the open with a big target on your head because that person has disabled foliage.

When I used to play Medal of Honor: Allied Assault I used a console command to turn pretty much everything off below what you could do in the menu. Made the game look garbage but meant that people could not hide in bushes anymore because it was pretty much all gone. I know some leagues ended up stating you had to use XYZ graphical settings to keep that even but this kind of shenanigan has been going on for decades.

I think hiding in bushes was intended by the developer. When the settings in-game are used, that's fine but when you do scummy things like that to gain a massive advantage over others then anyone using that should've been permabanned imo.

Boo this man, "boooooooooooooooo". I've changed settings for clarity like in Battlefield games but I don't go beyond what everyone else can use as I don't want a massive advantage in my favour.

$599. ?

So with RTX470ti at $799, the RTX4070 is 25% cheaper, will be interesting to see if it performs 25% worse in FPS, that would put RTX4070 under RTX3080 if so.

Alternatively maybe a price drop in rtx4070ti might be due,

Wouldn't surprise me if it was 25% cheaper than a 4070 Ti for 25% less performance.

Currently, the Geforce RTX 4070 is scheduled to launch on April 13th, with the first reviews coming online on April 12th.

It's has 23% less CUDA cores than the 4070 Ti, though since the memory system is the same it likely won't be quite that large a gap in performance. It's still going to be a pretty close-run thing between it and the 3080 performance-wise however, particularly at 1440p and above. Realistically you're going to be paying above 3080 FE money for most custom models, so price/performance will likely be either about the same or slightly worse, depending on which card you buy. But hey, 2GB extra VRAM and fake frames! Don't say Jensen never did anything nice for you. ;)

I think it'll touch a 3080Ti in best-case scenario's, which wouldn't be too bad if it's £549 for the FE.

How? The Videocardz.com link says the RTX4070TI has 33% more TFLOPS because the RTX4070TI has higher boost clockspeeds. At best that would make it in-between an RTX3070TI and an RTX3080:

With VAT, $599 would be at least £580. As AIB models will cost more and maybe they will clock much higher. But essentially RTX3080 level performance for RTX3080 FE pricing.

Which is now the mid-tier and lower issue. Your getting nowhere near enough gains for the gen shrink, at least not for these prices. Turing looks like losing its worst release title..

The generational uplift is there. The RTX4080 is around 75% faster than the RTX3070TI at qHD:

The RTX4070TI is around 76% faster than an RTX3060! The RTX4090 is around 65% faster than the RTX3090 at 4K:

The RTX7900XT is around 50% faster than an RX6900XT. The big problem is that instead of giving users a big generational uplift for the tiers under the RTX4090,they simply used it to jack up prices.

The RTX3090 was around 56% faster than the RTX2080TI at 4K:

The RTX3080 was around 68% faster than an RTX2080 at 4K looking at the above TPU figures.

The names are meaningless. Nvidia can scribble anything they want on the box.

If they can't provide ~30% generational improvement at a given price point, it's a fail.

Allowing for inflation and considering that today's $599 is not worth as much as it was when Ampere launched, let's see Nvidia can manage a 25% improvement over the 3070Ti.

OCUK runs a 1$ = 1£ so the AIB will be well over £650, probably £700

Anything under 40% is a useless generational improvement IMHO.
