NVIDIA 4000 Series

Still have to be careful with condensation, etc. with that setup.

I miss having access to an air conditioned lab with the ability to set temperature and humidity, etc. had some nice constant temperatures in the teens without risk of condensation issues.

Despite saying previously you've ran out with 12Gb:shrugs

Besides, because you don't run out running X settings doesn't equate to vram not running out on Y settings, clearly shown by the multitude of users reporting running out of 8/10/12GB vram, even some 4080 users have reported running out of 16gb vram in here and in Games sub.

Gpu grunt to vram allocation was made irrelevant in 70 and even 80 class gpu's in 2022, vram is the problem requiring turning down textures from max is a must in some titles, Avatar, SWO, Indy, SM2+Texture pack that Iv'e ran on the 4070@1440p-and that's not counting the games you have to restart with performance drop off if your having a heavy session or automatic texture degradation/loading in slower-plenty tech vids have been reporting it for years at this point.

Last year DF eventually jumped on reporting vram deficiencies even on Nv titles-Nv clearly don't care at this point.

16Gb 70ti is likely going to cost upwards of £800-they've successfully vram locked performance tiers because we'll buy anything they throw at us.

You enough have a boner for vram sir :D

I told you how I run out of vram. Was two occasions, both included turning on FG. Big deal, turned it off.

I am talking about all the games I am playing right now.

STALKER 2 - No issues
Silent Hill 2 - No issues
God of War Ragnarok - No issues
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth- No issues
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 - No issues
Ratched & Clank - No issues.

The way you go on, like as if the game won't even launch.

You give silly examples like Indiana Jones. Dude, your 4070 can't play it maxed out even if had 64GB vram. So one way or the other you need to turn down settings.

I have always said nvidia have used vram to upsell and to get you to want to upgrade your GPU. This is not news. Been this way for a long time.

3090 users upgrading to a 5080 have more than proved the point I was making years ago :D

Yet your post implied you don't run out with 12gb.

Maybe acknowledge it, that people like to run different settings than you, the industry has, it isn't new news-instead of always taking issue at me the few times I mention it/tag me when someone else talks about it and move on?:thumbsup

Just needs insulation. You can also tinker with these portable ACs to remove their safety limit and allow the temps to drop even further and go sub ambient

No implying. I am saying the whole thing is blown out if proportion and you in particular relish it :D

You tell me to on, not like you don't do the same. You love it, so don't get bent out of shape so quickly ;)

At the end of the day 3090 users who valued the vram so much have gone 5080. Nuff said really

Even 32GB isn't enough for my fully modded Skyrim.

Skyrim can be interesting when it exceeds VRAM available - sometimes you can go several GB over without any real impact, other times just a few MB over and everything becomes a stutter fest.

EDIT: And I'm still sore that it resets ini file settings on a GPU change and I lost my stable ugrids 9 setup and can't replicate it - adds so much to the game when you can see the world alive and active out to the far distance.
