NVIDIA 4000 Series

Right.
The 4080 12GB has less than half the shaders of the 4090 and half the memory bandwidth, like the 3060Ti vs the 3090, calling it the 4070 is being kind to it, the 3070 has more than half the shaders of the 3090.
Right. They're putting an ocean of room between models this gen so they can segment the line even more with a myriad of TIs, Supers, different mem configurations. Dare we even expect the return of Ultras moniker this round?

The 4080 12gb (4060 ti, who are the kidding) is definitely a dawdle that will soon be discounted and replaced.

At this point i'm finding the whole thing more and more amusing.

We are where we are because a small but very loud number in our community desperately trying to justify every penis move and price increase Nvidia made, not only have they not learned a thing from it they have now switched to doing the same with Intel now that they are charging Nvidia money for Nvidia performance.
Intel haven't even got started yet with prices higher than what looks like AMD equivalents and already members of this forum are using the same "Yes but ignore all of that.... X feature better so worth more" arguments they used for Nvidia over the last decade.

We are literally asking for this absurd situation.

I find it pretty depressing. I used to look forward to the next gen release, it was always a fun upgrade, but now there is nothing to look forward to! The prices are just insane, there is no way I am going to spend £1200+ every few years for a new card. I am seriously contemplating spending my latest upgrade cash on a monitor that is less difficult to drive cus I am damned if I am going to hand it over to "rip-off-NVIDIA".

Performance is what matters. Looking forward to reviews, these will sell like hotcakes if the rumoured performance is correct. Hope AMD release good cards too and that they can compete, though I highly doubt it.

By Nvidia's own performance slides the 4090 is 67% faster than the 3090Ti, the £950 4060Ti 12GB has less than half the shaders and half the memory bandwidth. Think about that for a minute.

Unless AMD decide to take the opportunity to make Nvidia look stupid to anyone with an IQ above 82 i'm not going to be upgrading my RTX 2070 Super any time soon.

From Nvidia i'm not going to get anything better for much less than £800, And no DLSS is not a replacement for native resolution. I don't care that AMD don't have DLSS i run a 32" 1440P screen, i can easily see the difference.

The performance is never as good as people hype it up to be. And give the current financial situation I really don't think there is going to be any hotcake buying! No doubt there will be a number of people going for the 4090 but I really do think that NVIDIA are going to be forced to get real with the 4080 and 4070.

I am not sure that people will want DLSS 3 either. There are already many concerns about latency. We will see, though...

Forgive me for being cynical but I’ll believe it when I see it.

That was using DLSS3 and an unreleased game patch that changes RT settings I believe.

I can't find the original article annoyingly but it was WCCFTech that initially wrote it/saw it.

IIRC - it was game version 1.6 and RTX was on so that 75% uplift was both raytracing and rasterisation. Bit annoying but it could swing either way, the performance bump could be held back in this instance by raytracing (i.e if RTX was off then rasterisation could stretch it's legs a bit more or it could go the other way).

Benchmark figures definitely had native 3090Ti vs 4090 without DLSS

AMD released good cards last time that were competitive and generally cheaper, only an NV simp would pretend otherwise.
