NVIDIA 4000 Series

They get away with it because as evident by this thread and the OCUK stock levels, people will buy it day one regardless.

What we know is that the 5000 series will be more expensive than these ones and again people will buy them day one regardless.

They would have sold like they did even without DLSS 3 because they are a nice bit of hardware with a nice uplift from previous gen, but nvidia and these companies never know when to stop over selling a good thing, all nvidia did was actually add negativity to the product because of something that didn't need adding as a selling point, the hardware sold itself because reality is ADA is nothing more than Ampere with more cores, more cache and minor updates..

Reminds me a lot of Maxwell to Pascal ... remember we use to call Pascal Paxwell and it was a compliment because Maxwell was a lovely architecture at the time and all they did with Pascal was add more of Maxwell goodness with a die shrink as they did here with Ada and minor other updates to it and more cache.

I've today received an invite from nVidia to purchase an FE via a link in Geforce Experience, so went ahead with that. I've received confirmation email from the retailer dealing with FEs that I should get it on Tuesday.

The psychology of all this is brilliant - I'm almost feeling honoured to have been allowed to spend £1,700 of my cash on a graphics card I don't really need!
I got that e-mail too but I don't have a GPU in my PC atm so I can't get to the part in Geforce Expirience, I'm tempted by the FE, I seriously am... But I like the look of the AIRO.

Spent a frustrating couple of hours trying to get one yesterday, but no luck.

so why are you so desperate to buy one, if you don't even need it ?

No email here sadly :( After all the cards I have bought from them including Titans as well :(
same no email either , I have a Zotac Trinity OC on the way but would swap to an FE just due to the fact the EK Waterblock is out soon where as with the Zotac there is no ETA so probably next year sometime before i can get it in a block

I have eyes, I can see the problems and his conclusion was it's nothing more than a way for nvidia to fake fps to make their cards look better and he didn't agree with the way the cards are being sold and should have been set to native to show real uplifts. Also said it sucks with the latency and what he tried to explain and couldn't find the right words to describe the issue he felt and saw was "SOAP OPERA EFFECT" like on TVs when you game on them with that feature on, it looks super smooth but feels like treacle the inputs.

I said this from day one when Nvidia explained DLSS 3 frame generation but I hate to say it I told you so... there is no way of getting round it. Anyways will be playing with a 4090 later this weekend at a colleges and will stick MSFS on it and test it my self. So far not impressed at all with it, but the 4090 native uplift is great in other games not cpu bound and end up gpu bound, msfs it fails badly and nvidia used it to sell the cards ...same with F1 .. geeze they couldn't have set themselves up worse with people that play sims like these.

Watch DF to see on the latency front. Vsync is causing issues. I don't think Tim mentioned anything on this?

Each to their own, you got Tim showing the bad frame and then he goes on to say "yeah this aspect of FG isn't actually a problem in normal use"

I have him blocked... please tell me he's now running around singing the virtues of DLSS 3

PS: the best thing you can do for your sanity is click on his name above his avatar and click on ignore, there is something not right with him.

Your jimmies still hurt since I outed you having/had amd shares despite you saying you never did  :D

What CPU's do you guys plan of running with these? Nvidia still have a problem with a CPU overhead in their drivers due to the way they do thread scheduling.

Despite all of the DLSS3 BS these things are pretty quick in native raster and if you haven't got the latest and greatest from team Red or Blue you may find yourselves CPU limited.

Did you opt into anything in order to receive the FE emails do you know?

Only thing I can think of is that I asked to be notified about the 4090. I got an email yesterday advising they'd been released. I used the same email address for that as for the Geforce experience account.

I suspect it's just a random selection of geforce experience email accounts though? [edit] I see that looks like the case from the article in Jay-G25's link.

The link you get is specified to be a one off linked to your email address, and when you use it its gone.

Cheers

I'm signed up for 4090 emails and got the notification one yesterday but missed out on the 1 second window to buy. Also have a geforce experience acct with the same email so fingers crossed I get an invite.

If anyone gets a link and doesn't want it do please hook me up!!

My Strix 4090 almost looks small in my Evolv X!

Really love the build quality, a full metal card is fantastic, I hope other AIB's catch onto this for the 5000 series!

Card is so quiet, very pleased so far :D

Also, I'm not saying there aren't issues, both Tim and Alex in their videos basically agreed/brought up the exact same points as each other as to where it falls short and where it is best experienced, I've also said the exact same even before these videos came out. I'm just pointing out the usual of people who pick the one scene/frame which is fake, which we all know will have artefacts and has been shown/used to fit the narrative of "dlss 3/fg bad!!!" but then watch the video and you'll see/hear exactly what the person who captured said frame has to say..... hence why I quoted that bit of Tim.

Until Tim confirms what he had vsync set to, I'll take Alex's more thorough testing approach on this aspect:

Maybe it's because people just don't understand how the tech works.....

I didn’t like the look of the Airo, the fans look cool which would be visually appealing for a vertical mount but on a horizontal mount it didn’t seem too good. However, my tastes lie in the Aorus 4090 which looked pretty cyberpunk esque to me but others hate it!

I'm not sure that CPU limitation matters that much - There is always a limitation between CPU and GPU, this seems to be the first time that CPU limitation is potentially a bigger issue than before.

Unlike before, the limitation seems to be on the cheaper item to replace, which is surely the best way round?

I think the 4090 sells itself very well regardless of dlss 3/FG, well at 4k anyway, price is still too high regardless of how good it may be though.

Like FSR and dlss, FG will only improve with time but for the kind of scenes that people are using to show "FG sucks" i.e. that f1 22, there is no way that will be fixed because of how the tech works, it relies on the frame before and after to generate the "fake" middle one so when you drastically change the scene/frame by switching camera angle, it will always come out bad like that.
True but if someone is selling you a 200Mph car you sort of expect it to do 200Mph without is suddenly looking a bit odd and the steering going a bit wayward. :)

Honestly, mate if the Aorus fit in my case it's the one I'd have gone for, I love the look of it. I completely forgot the AIRO has that horrible pink sticker though :(

Anyone with the AIRO, do you know if you can change the fan/bios thing from gaming to quiet from within the software or do you have to flip it on the card?
