NVIDIA RTX 4080 Founders Edition PCB is quite empty
Some new photos of the upcoming RTX 4080 graphics card have been posted by known leaker @KittyYYuko.
This is the first time we get to see the RTX 4080 Founders Edition board design up close and the first time a photograph of the AD103 Ada Lovelace GPU has been posted online.
In an effort to hide some details from NVIDIA, Kitty is using an EK logo sticker and Intel CPU to cover some parts of the board and GPU. Unfortunately, this also means we can’t see how many VRMs are actually installed on this card. It does not appear that even half of the GPU VRMs are present, though. The thing that has not changed is the 16-pin power connector, to be used by all future RTX 40 GPUs.

The RTX 4080 is equipped with 9728 CUDA cores and 16 GB of GDDR6X memory. We can see that this PCB has 8 modules installed around the GPU, each holding 2GB of capacity. This memory is attached to a 256-bit memory bus, which is a downgrade from RTX 4090’s 384-bit bus.

It is worth noting that the leaker confirmed that the card scores 14100 points in Time Spy Extreme, so just about the same as
the RTX 4080 from other leaker.
One might guess that the reason the board is so empty is that NVIDIA will be using this board for a future AD103 upgrade, possibly an RTX 4080 Ti variant. However, NVIDIA has not acknowledged any RTX 40 Ti variant yet.
NVIDIA RTX 4080 non-Ti launches on November 16th. This Founders Edition GPU should cost $1199 through official NVIDIA channels.
