NVIDIA 4000 Series

To be fair they couldn't run a none VR game at native 4k, 120+ refresh, either. Not without having to gimp the image with checkerboard or adaptive resolution techniques, or knock the frame cap from 60 - 30.

Yes 40 series is expensive. And yes Nvidia have royally took the mick this time round. Doesn't mean 3, 4, or 5 consoles for the same price will give you what the 4090 can offer. Horses for courses as they say.

None of them can offer what a PC does, so pretty pointless waste of sand for me. :)

A lot of people talk about what a pc offers but other than people using pcs professionally for heavy workloads, I'd say the majority just browse and shop on their phone and then do nothing but play games on their pc.

It's a benefit to have some consoles alongside a pc.

The way I look at it. I would easily drop £1699 on a half decent guitar. So as I currently game primarily on a 55" LG CX Oled at 120Hz and was struggling in some games at 4K I thought go for it. Sold my 6800XT for £460 so not too bad. Loving the 4090FE and plan on keeping for 5 years. Agree prices are stupid and only one half worth it for me was the 4090 FE. I'm glad I bought it.

Thanks for the feedback.

Which block did you fit?

EKWB. Always liked their blocks, nice easy fitment, perform well and look great.

I honestly think anyone buying a 4090 purely for gaming has lost their mind.

For the same money as a Founders Edition 4090 you could buy an Xbox Series X, a PS5, a Nintendo Switch OLED and a Meta Quest 2!

For 4K gaming the 4090 is incredible. 90% of my games I can now crank everything to the max, RT as well with no DLSS and have the 120fps to hit the max refresh rate of my OLED monitor. Cyberpunk is the new Crysis and still needs DLSS to hit over 100fps. I have zero interest in consoles, the idea of sitting in front of the TV, even if an OLED and playing with a controller does nothing for me.

4090 now lets me max out my games at 4K and get decent FPS.

These are just 2 of the games I'm going through right now, FPS counter top left...

I have an iPhone 8 I bought brand new in box from a store local to me for £80, You know what I do with it ? I use it to phone, Once in a blue moon maybe text but its main function is 2FA, I don't use it for anything else.

My PC is hooked up to my main monitor and to my TV that I can use to game with on my couch with a wireless pad.

Your behaviour isn't anything like the majority though. Look around and you will see people browse and send emails etc via their mobile. Then they maybe use a pc for basic office work but that can be done on ten year old pcs.

While true I've never liked phones, They create drones.

The behaviour of smartphone users, I'm talking more than a simple phone call a couple times per day, Is a serious issue among the majority, It's an addiction equivalent to people on opioids as the brain reacts exactly the same way.

Some very interesting literature out about this problem.

Totally agree with you on this. I've witnessed a teenager get hit by a car as they decided to step out whilst head down looking at their phone. Luckily she survived. Sorry to go way off topic.

I see it on my way home from the gym at night too when I walk through the trendy parts of town on a friday and saturday night, Through the big windows into the wine bars, Cocktail bars etc... you can see everyone has their face buried in their phones, It's not good.

Makes you wonder why they even bother to go out. Went to China a few years ago and there was a table of 14 next to us and every single one was head down looking at their phones in total silence. We've got a "no phones at mealtimes" rule for this exact reason. I sound like such an old grump, lol.

Indeed, I went out on a staff night out a few months back to a bar, There was a group of 20 of us and everyone including the majority of the bar minus me and a lady friend of mine that I met in the gym were on their phones, Like a herd of drones endlessly scrolling.

My friend and I started talking and she said "this is like something out of the film equilibrium" and it really is, For this reason I cannot stand smartphones or as I call them "the drone makers".

Not questioning the power of a 4090 in the slightest, it's the best of the best, but if your using DLSS it's not maxed out.

Yes DLSS improves shimmer, but the rest of the output is a downgrade over native.

If I'm not using DLSS it's going to be well under 60 in busy areas which is the point of my reply to lovelyhead saying "anyone who buys a 4090 purely for gaming has lost their mind".
