NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Genuine question, can we believe everything the chinese say? I honestly know nothing about Deepseek but i did see mention that they already had $1B worth A100's before starting which kind of wee's on the claim of building it for $6M if true.
Duuno but it spooked the market so if that was the aim of it, it worked.

The 5090 will be the main bot target, id say the 5080 you might have a bit of time to snag one.
Depends if a 5080 is even worth it, reviews are not yet out.
If the 5090 is any indication, a 5080 will be roughly 10-15% better than a 4080 and still be slower than a 4090.
I'd put money on that if I was a betting man.

I saw a 4080 sell for under £700 on MM recently as well as another 4090 for sub £1.3k.

I’ve absolutely no doubt that stuff like research costs or whatever weren’t included in the 6 million figure they quoted.

If Deepseek used any code, models, algorithms (anything at all) from OpenAI or whatever then their claim is a pile of nonsense since at that point you’ve had to use a system that costs billions in the first place.

So I'm looking to pick up a 5080 (with any luck).

trying to decide between a TUF or a Gaming Trio.

I've been AMD for about a decade since coming off a 970 years and years ago so am unsure of which AIB provides the "better experience" as a uk customer.

anyone else in the same decision making boat?
I can't speak for the 5 series but on the 4xxx series I have some experience albeit with the 4070ti super versions. So as a card I will get straight to it the asus tuf 4070ti super is a better overall card than the msi gaming slim 4070ti. However there is really hardly anything in it. The asus is better built, runs cooler, runs quieter. However it is more expensive and please be aware Asus models tend more often than not to come with coil whine. Luckily mine had none but I have owned multiple strix 4090's and 4080 and they all had it.

Now early reports say the new msi suprims cards we are talking about the 5090 here which is not the model you are interested in runs cooler and without coil whine but does have higher memory hot spot temps than the asus top line card. How does this translate further down their product stack is tough to know at this stage. Just sit tight wait for review to start flowing through and see which ones matches your budget more although I easily suspect it will be the MSI line as Asus cards are well known for their Asus tax aka much more than similar SKU's from other manufacturers.

I get the impression that having a choice will be a luxury.

I've had a few MSI cards and they've all been good. Never had an Asus but the TUF range is apparently good without the massive Asus tax.
The tuf range is good but compared to the strix lineup they seem like a bargain but they do in fact carry the Asus tax. It just compared to the strix it looks like a bargain but they are regularly more expensive than giga, zotac offerings and if you need a white one then get ready for white tax and if it an asus card then theres the Asus white tax.

As far as I’m aware only Gigabyte and ZOTAC have UK based RMA, the latter also offer a 5 year warranty if you register.

Nonsense - you just need some motivation:
Damn bro that was good. Had you used the mickey vision when rocky is in the old training gym and he has visions of his old trainer Mickey I do actually believe for a split second you would have broken the internet. That twice you have impressed me tonight. You are on a roll good sir!

Quick follow up. I guess Deepseel collects data and i knwo this may be in the redalms of conspiracy but could it also be told to give pro chinese answers to questions when possible. I onlly ask cause of all the Tick Tock stuff going on right now and wonder what the western nations would think if those things where happening and what they would do

You are on a roll good sir!
Well that’s rare… I’ll take it though. Even a broken clock is right twice a day!

Do love that speech though…

“… me, you or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how much you can get hit… and keep moving forward. How much you can take… and keep moving forward! That’s how winning is done!!”

Trump has announced new tariffs; and it's worse than previous ones he discussed. It looks no one is safe with semi conductors

Trump is saying he will put up to 100% tariffs on semiconductors built in Taiwan; it's no longer just about China, Trump was specific in his remarks - he wants computer chips and electronics built in America, if it's built overseas you can expect a tariff shortly

Americans can expect to pay more for GPUs
