NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

That’s not how it will work. The US is a massive market so losses there cannot simply be diverted to the rest of the world. To make up for those loses they will raise prices elsewhere. They could even subsidise lower US MSRP by increasing MSRP everywhere else.
This is what i’m expecting. Looking forward to a £3.5k Astral card. When there were tarriffs before it didn’t affect the US market as much as predicted by many.

In the longer run it incentivises companies outside of the US to invest into competing products who globally can undercut the US. Trump's mafia like approach might make money in the short term but will probably cost the US in the long term. Similar to Thatcher who burned the UK long term to make short term finances work.

Yes it can be diverted here if there is a demand for it

There is probably only 10 of us in total on this forum that want to get one, seeing as most people here are slagging it off lmao
I see a lot of people saying that people buying a 5090 are stupid and want the e peen etc, however this is a forum based on “enthusiasts” is it not?

Seems like more people like slagging off tech than actually use it on here

Either that or people hate seeing others buying things they can’t afford to the extent they have to vent.

Is a sale not a sale though? If they struggle to saturate demand globally easing that strain somewhat might even be more beneficial. If they raised prices everywhere that would have just as detrimental effect as the scenario your trying to mitigate.

The American market has always had cheaper GPUs than most places. If we start at the lower base price, an increase of say 25% might not be as devastating to the US market as it may sound on paper.

Interesting history lesson

Tsmc are going to produce chips in America so it’s working for Trump.

It's a global market. Prices will rise across the world and TSMC will have to make up for it's US shortfall. Additionally the US can't manufacture anything as cheaply as they do in China/Taiwan (which is the reason why everything gets outsourced to over there), so even if US tech companies do start manufacturing in the US, prices will be significantly higher than they are now. Those £2800 Astrals are gonna look cheap

In any case if gpus were super expensive worldwide the devs would have to focus on where the majority of the user base is at in terms of power. I'm not going to worry about it. GPUs have been powerful enough for ages IMO.

Please don’t naively assume it’s as simple as diverting stock elsewhere to make up the loss of a sale.

Most GPU sales are for data centres etc. I think 90% vs. 10% and those data centre sales don’t just shift to Europe for example.

Reverse psychology in action. There'll be a few here that want a 5090 Astra, Suprim etc on day one. If they can make others hesitate for even a second, they increase the likelyhood that they'll beat them to adding to cart and taking home the precious

I think business use would be less price sensitive than the general consumer market.

I just don't think it's as black and white as the costs passed on to the rest of us. The world dosnt owe America "cheap" gpus.

Do we know when the cards will go live for sale, will it be after 12pm Wednesday or after 9am Thursday.
