NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Whoever got one of those Asus Matrix water cooled 4090s probably very chuffed with themselves right now. I am still worried I may accidently click "buy" tomorrow when 2pm arrives if stock is there :P

I wasn't expecting much from the 5080 and that seems to be exactly what we got.
While it's not awful it is disappointing. I think what concerns me the most is the gap this leaves to be filled with a TI or SUPER (or both) variant that is much more like we would've wanted.
But how long do we have to wait for that (if it's coming) and how much would that cost?

I'd like to wait on upgrading from a 3080, but the vram is causing me issues, and has been for a while really. So I think it'd be a tough two years. Especially since I was considering getting a bigger monitor too.

Looks like another generation I’m going to skip. 5090 too rich for my blood, and my head too. I may just stick with my 3080 10GB and work round it, or just go and find a white 3090.

Oh man, I wasn't expecting much and I'm still disappointed by how trash this release is! No wonder AMD delayed, the 9070 XT could be within spitting distance, which unfortunately means that they could also be considering a price hike.

I was all set to try for a 5080 tomorrow but really not sure now. On the plus side my Quest 3 has arrived so I'll see how I get on with my current setup.

Now imagine if amd has circa 4080 performance, 4070ti RT, DLSS4 and the top part is $550, that would put the cat among Jensens pigeons. That RDNA 4 delay is looking like a genius move.
These pigeons are so fat now that even cat won't be able to get them down easily - too much fat to chew threw before anything happens. Also, said pigeons still have an army of diehards that will yell and spit at the cat to show everyone why pigeons are always better. :p

Might be worth skipping the 5080 and getting a 5070 as that’s as fast as a 4090 :) :)

I still lol thinking about this.

That 5080 is gonna die on shelfs harder than the 4080. Expect price drops to 900 or even 800 within weeks, not months. Even OG MSRP of an xx80 class at 700 is a tough sell. 4000 series flipping all the price/perf value to the high end of stack has nuked the market completely. My plan to go 4090 and jump every 2nd gen seems to be looking good. I think the days of xx80 being 85-90% of Titan/XX90 at half the price are dead and buried.
Maybe that's exactly why the availability is said to be so low - they'll be releasing them slowly to prevent price drops and keep people hungry. It's not a new tactic for them, they did the same with 4k series when 3k series were still in stock.

Not sure where you get the idea that people will have hours to decide, loads of resellers have already said they have limited stock and expect to sell out in minutes.
Also the FE edition is only via 1 reseller, so of course others wont be selling the FE and from previous generations they sell at the same time as everyone else.
its based on my experience when i bought the 3090 and 4090, was in stock all afternoon, by 7pm they were gone, so it should be the same, I mean cant be that hard, unless ur relying on 1 retailer, im gonna try on 11 major sites, either it happens or not, but one day i will get a 5090, one day, might be tomorrow might be July 2026
