NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Prices from another store listed on another forum so take it as you will, including VAT

Asus Tuf (non oc) : £2500/€2985/$3112
Oc Tuf. : £2580/€3081/$3211
Asus Astral oc. : £2700/€3224/$3360
Asus Astral LC. : £2880/€3439/$3584
Msi Suprim soc. : £2600/€3105/$3236

The Asus TUF was supposed to be their "value" line. I have a 3080 TUF and that was (officially) an MSRP card.

This is just getting stupid.

But will still sell by the truckload cos nvidia. At this point nvidia putting out a new gpu is like apple putting out a new phone. Can pretty much guarantee tomorrow is a relatively quick sellout

It’s a cult thing. You watch from the sidelines at such logic as “I was thinking of getting a 5080 but it sucks, so I’ll get a 5090 instead”. Yeah that’ll teach Jensen.

Was supposed to be doing a build with a 5080, but just told the guy this is officially the new clown card, and KFA need to seek royalties from Nvidia. :p

I posted them prices over on Overclock.net, not allowed to name where as per normal  but yep the Tuf has taken a massive price hike so much so that it's not even worth considering and spend the extra on the Astral... the Tuf should be atleast £200-£300 less to justify it imo .

Budget options are a Zotac Solid non oc at £2100 or Palit Gamerock at £2150 ..Asus have no interest in Budget options this gen

The first time I saw that was with the 970 fiasco. They sent it back and paid extra to get a GTX 980. Bizarre/hilarious :D

The 5080 is about 80% faster than your 3080, so workout if 80% more fps will achieve your desired performance target. If you need more performance, the 5090 will be about 120% faster than your 3080

80% is definitely enough, plus all the AI stuff is a bonus. I just hope I can actually get one tomorrow.

I have a 5900x with a 3090.
I game at 4k 120hz.
If I got a 5090 would the CPU be bottlenecked if playing at 4k?

Just wish to know if I wouldn't get full performance and need to look at 5080 or 4090?
Thanks in advance.

This revelation that the 5080 FE isn't using liquid metal and doesn't have a vapour chamber is a bit of an oooph moment.. Might be worth looking at the MSRP AIB cards like Windforce, Prime or Suprim.

It’s going to depend on the game to be fair but assume yes for the most part yes.

Can we have the daily reminder that there are more people interested in buying than just current 4000 series owners. The same old drivel 506 pages in, weeks after we got confirmation of performance points is tiresome. Especially 4000 owners whining about uplift.
haha, so true, they have every right to moan about uplift and understandably so. It is clear most 4000 series owners have already convinced themselves that they will not upgrade, the 2nd hand market will not be flooded. What options do people have other then 5080/90.

Long gone are the days when xx70 matches last gens flagship.

Yeah this really stings, I wonder how much it's saving them per card to screw us over.

Yes, undoubtably. You're looking at likely hitting the ceiling of that CPU in most cases with a 5900x. You might only avoid being bottlenecked in 1-2 games at 4k at very highest settings e.g. Alan Wake 2 with path tracing.

Yes it's going to be ok or Yes it will bottleneck?

I can cope with a few %. However anything major and I refuse to do a whole new build whilst we are in a time when not that many games demand more power and the ones that will, probably be in line with the next generation of consoles.
Unless Nvidea sponsor a few games to make sure shadows and path tracing are technically too difficult for current cards in a hope today more people to buy this placeholder of a generation of card.
(Only based on past launches. Yes better than 4090, but at a time where almost every game doesn't need the upgrade for a while, unless running at high frame rates)

Maybe I should sit this one out, or see what best I can get for £800-£1k?

Yes it will be fine for most games if you are cranking graphics to max. There are some reviews that show CPU scaling even with graphics at ultra etc.

You will of course see a lot of games where there will indeed be CPU bottlenecks.
