NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Has me worried about FE stock going immediately with this in mind :D. If can get the going rate for my 4090 and I buy an FE 5090 the upgrade isn't gonna be that expensive overall.

I’d only sell the 4090 once you’ve got a 5090 secured. Could end up being without a GPU for months if you sell it now and you hold out for a 5090FE.

This is why a chart looking at the shader % in relation to the top chip of that generation is where you really see where things land.

Sadly this chart tells you all you need to know about this generation.. 5070 again badged as a 5080, last time they didn't get away with it, this time clearly they think they can.

Why did Linus review the card running Cyberpunk with RT OFF???

Several reviewers have mentioned having issues with CP2077 and especially with RT on in the game with the 5000 series cards with the drivers available for review.

They don't care , it saves silicone for AI, and getting 5090 sales is nice , screw the rest of the stack buyers

Nvidia defiantly do not have problems selling silicones. But it would be silly to loose that gamer market share they built up over the past 2 decade by neglecting the mid range market. Of course, we only account to a small percentage of their revenue, but it would be very short sighted if they let AMD RX 9000 dominate midrange.

Someone just bought a 4080 trio for £650 on MM, this guy is going to enjoy the reviews today.

I mentioned that yesterday. Lucky bugger

Not everyone is comfortable in buying a used pc component, especially a gpu.

About a year after GTX1000 series launched, I bought the top of previous gen 980ti used.
Great value for money, equivalent to finding a used 4090 cheaper than 4070 RRP.

However, it didn't OC at all really and eventually died a few years later. The brand new 970 I bought years prior still works to this very day.
It really is a gamble buying used, though I don't regret the 980ti given how little it cost.

so it looks like my prediction is going to be wrong
I just hope the 5080 is closer to the 4090 than the 4080

Don't know how anyone could expect 5080 to beat 4090 after seeing 5090 reviews.

Yeah watch digital foundry if you wanna feel better about buying one lol

I noticed how they seemed to cherry-pick games and put little time/effort into the raster part. And then didn't even include 7900XTX in the comparisons until the end.
I'm disappointed tbh, they used to be the reviews I looked forward to most due their way of covering. Now they, just like Nvidia gaming GPUs, are just a shell of their former glory.

Not quite, last gen they tried to move the stack up two price tiers at once but failed and had to settle for one tier up on prices. The 4080 12GB unlaunch and eventually knock £200 of the 4080. The 5000 series is just the continuation of that plan.

Mission accomplished for Nvidia.

I was considering an upgrade from my 3080, the 5090 was ruled out as too much of my PC may limit it and the price was just too much for me to sensibly accept. The 5080 then became and option but a lot seems very lacklustre and reviews a bit meh, the 16GB seems a shame so I just don't think I could stomach paying £1000 for it. Looks like I'll keep the 3080 for a while and see if any upgraded models etc come out

They go through another party , can't name due to being competitor that's who you need to register with or complete check out as guest

Nvidia drop on site will link it to them
Thank you. That's helpful. I bought a 3080 ti FE from a competitor previously. I imagine it's the same one now. My details are still registered with them.

Just read through the architecture white paper

Can someone explain why the 5090 has a lower pixel fill rate than the 4090? I can't understand it

Crazy how we don't have prices yet. The jack up tomorrow is going to be incredible lol, these retailers could easily add a few hundred onto the price and still sell out
Not hard when there's no stock, no competition and folks have no sense but to scratch unnecessary upgrade itches, when they could have bought/kept previous gen and been better off for it.

Look closer mate, you'll see the 5080 is closer to the x60/x60ti tier. It's even worse than you think. No wonder the performance improvements are terrible.
If it had actually been a 5070 rebadged as a 5080, we would have gotten better performance and the reviews wouldn't have been as bad.
Except maybe not Nvidia would've priced it well above £1k probably. The only reason the prices were better than expected, is cos Nvidia knew they'd have small performance uplift.

I called it when the price “cuts” on the 70 class was revealed. Nvidia never give price cuts unless they are forced.
