Asus Astral LC. : £2880/€3439/$3584

i saw Astral at exactly 3k on another massive big named retailer

Wow the 5080 is bad. If you got a 4090 launch day, you got a great long life purchase.

This is a massive reach to be fair. While the 5080 is bad overall it is still better value than a 4090. If you didn’t pay £1700 for a 4090 and get a 5080 for £1000 you saved 70% of the cost of your new GPU for about 87% of the performance.

So those who opted out of the 4000 series are now at least getting a decent upgrade option.

I'm gonna have a blast with the new Doom game, that engine and Vulkun still loves my 4090 long time

wait a second ago i saw 5080 was only 15% down from the 5090 on cyber

this shows 5090 has got a considerable gain over the 5080

ahh man, i think it will be better to see some deep stats 5080 vs 5090

Kind of expected this to happen, Déjà vu every two years. Small gains of a few percent and a grand plus, I don't have FOMO so not missing nowt.
Again, me too. The FOMO is extremely weak this time. And I absolutely love this 4080s FE, it's a great card and built amazingly.

Good to know it's very easy to resist the 5000 series, I'm very glad I got this card last April now because it was late in the cycle.

If I'm lucky enough to get a bonus this year, it can go on something different. Bonus paid for this card last year and even though it was 959 quid, which is extortionate, it's looking a better purchase than it did.

Though the reviews aren't the greatest it's still better than the 4080 (barely) so my plan is still try and get 5080 Fe or hold of for a 4090 that's not priced too high..... Though if I'm in a position to purchase a 5090 Fe..I might be tempted

Jenson had some nerve saying the 5070 would equal a 4090
We joke about this, but back in the day, we got such improvements for real. 970 traded blows with 780ti/Titan X and then 1070 came close to 980ti and Titan Xp.
How times have changed...

This whole gen is really for people who have cards that are 30 series or older
I'm on a 970 and I have no intentions of buying any 5000 series GPU. I don't want to pay a single penny for such a terrible GPU generation out of principal.
I was the lone crier who moaned when the 1000 series launched and folks defended UK price increases with nonsense like Brexit and weak £.
Now look how far we've come... folks gave Nvidia an inch, they took a mile.

The 6000 series will be a much better gen I think. Node change will change everything. This gen is a complete wash out IMO. Never seen such a dull 80 series card. Maybe the 2080 was the closest
Good luck, Nvidia have shown they don't care to give decent performance boost at reasonable prices. If the 6000 series really does improve more at the same die % (keep in mind Nvidia has been decreasing how much of the full flagship we get each gen), I can guarantee the prices will jump up again. After 2 poor generations in a row, I can't trust Nvidia are capable of launching worthwhile products anymore. The good old days of getting flagship performance at mainstream prices are long gone.

£1k for 6070ti anyone?
Oh who am I kidding, folks will surely lap it up :D

Where are all my peeps saying the 5080 would beat 4090 then :p
Exactly, this is what I want to know.
More importantly, who is still buying a 5080?
If there is anyone, at least they won't have much competition.

Reckon there will be Supers or even 5080ti this gen? While there wouldn't be any optimisations, the lower number of cores does leave plenty of room to add more, not to mention VRAM boosts. The only way the Supers wouldn't flop as hard is with price cuts or something.

It's amusing that we had gamers nexus visiting nvidia to see the heatsink and how they put it together. Then nvidia put out a 10 minute long video about the heatsink design. Yet on the more "affordable" card most will buy you don't even get that heatsink, you get a dumbed down version.

Only just watched the HUB review and all I can say is LOL.

They needed to price it at $799 for what's on offer. Either that or be mich closer to the 4090. **** poor imo and 5070 Ti won't fair well either based on this.

Was thinking maybe go 5070Ti for something fresh. But meh. Maybe if I find another pricing error/offer again like I did with my 4070Ti

Hahahahaa. Lol. Lmao, even.

OK, hands up, considering how much I'm about to put down I'm feeling foolish about my knowledge on this and looking for a little guidance.

If I get lucky tomorrow I'm hoping to be in line for a 5080 or maybe 5090.

However, once I decide if it's 5080 or 5090 I've no idea on how you go about selecting a specific card from those on offer.
Beyond knowing I don't want a watercooled I'm stumped as to the differences.
