NVIDIA 5000 SERIES - ***NO COMPETITOR HINTING***

Yea no.

The 9070 won't be in the same ball park as the 5090.

Heck it will barely beat my 3090 if reports are true about it

I was comparing to the 5080, not the 5090. Also it will beat a 3090 because a 7900 XT/X already does and the 9070 XT is not far off an XTX with much improved RT. If you are looking at a 5090 then yeah, no sympathy whatsoever. You poor deluded fool ;)

I jest of course but if you are that convinced a 9070 XT can’t beat a 3090, then yeah I don’t know what to say because AMD already had that beat last gen.

For £1000? You think they should sell a 24gb GPU that's faster than a 4090 for £1000? Why do all the angry 40 series owners keep conveniently forgetting that important detail? It's £200 cheaper than a 4080 was 2 years ago.

For the 5080 to have 24gb and faster than a 4090 there's no way it would be £1000. That card doesn't exist. A label is just a label. It's still a decent upgrade for 30 series owners, doesn't matter what they call it.

Jensen must dream about you at night. The perfect victim… er I mean customer. ;)

I didn't need to upgrade last year though?
There were a few, not many, but a few deals kicking around in November. Did you need to upgrade in November? Likely could have saved yourself at least £100 maybe more looking at some of the aib models.

My point is simply that any way you look at it the 5080 is a disappointing release. And nvidia should be called out for it, hopefully they will get the message.

Edit: thinking about it, and buddy of mine got a pretty good deal on a 7900xtx in November, which looks even better now we know it goes toe to toe with the 5080 in most games.

Even as a 4090 owner, yes I think the 5080 should be better than a 4090 because that’s progress and not stagnation.

Just get a 5080 - pc gaming is still better :p
True!

Worldwide PC games revenue in 2024 was $30bn, much bigger than console games revenue $18bn worldwide! $18bn games revenue from all consoles combined Nintendo Switch, Xbox One X, Xbox One S, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Playstation 4, Playstation 4 Pro, Playstation 5 and Playstation 5 Pro.

Yeah conveniently comparing against the 4080 terrible MSRP and ignoring the 4080 super existed and was available right up until late last year. It’s the typical confirmation bias going on.

“What choice do we have”… it’s only a GPU not a matter of life and death.

How about this for a list of options.

- Don’t upgrade at all
- Wait to see what the 9070 XT perf/price is.
- Wait to see if the above will force Nvidia to revise prices
- if your current 3000/2000 series is bad buy a cheap upgrade to tide you over

Can't see these selling well. First batches will fly off the shelf. But reckon availability will be plenty a few months in.
I guess you missed the last few hardware launches. Nvidia will announce record demand and how thrilled they are at the success of their new lineup. They won't be readily in stock for months and will just keep selling out. Maybe by late Spring, early Summer the retailers might have caught up on pre-orders and actually have some in stock for anyone to buy.
