NVIDIA 780 Ti Announced (18/10/13)

Nothing definitive in that, rumors, what they say seems kinda odd.

They say the R9 290X is not competitive with the Titan, but is competitive with the 780, are they breaking NDA? do they even know what the final results are going to be? jumping the gun.....

So with that reasoning they are proposing it will have a few more CUDA cores than the 780, but a few less than the Titan, so its what, a couple of % faster than the 780 and a couple of % slower than the Titan?

Good Grief really? margin of error performance increments between 3 GPU's

Be that as it may, i doubt AMD have anything to be concerned about, especially if the 290X is as fast as the Titan.

I'd assume much like AMD when making such claims they're referring to price. The comment is too vague to in anyway breach NDA.

You seem to be insinuating that the 780Ti being it's product placement is between two cards makes it unnecessary. So by that logic is the 290(Pro) a senseless card? It's anyone's guess currently to what performance the 780Ti will bring, so if I was AMD this far into the launch of their new flagship card - I'd be quite concerned. Albiet it might mean the bargain hunters in us will get a cheaper than expected Hawaii Christmas. All guess work, as is the case for this entire launch.

If the 290(Pro) is 4% slower than the 290X then yes it is a senseless card, only a very few will pay + £40 for a GPU thats almost identical, the cheapest one will simply become De-facto, so the bottom price is where Nvidia's GK110 revenue will come from, the 780. a GTX 780TI in this form is also (from what we know so far) not a challenge to the 290X.

All the people saying the 780 will be phased out....are you having a laugh? It has only been out about 4 months and since when did a 'Ti' version of a card make the non To version obsolete? How do we know it will take the 780's price point as well?

A lot of you seem convinced the 780 will be phased out....no chance.

Well I think my 2x Classifieds idea is out, Gregster or Oldestgregg.... mentioned the electricity bill, had a look and saw 444w peak power draw! My 850w GOld PSU ain't gonna cope with two of those and I cannot justify upgrading my PSU as well for an already OTT setup.

I wish for it, those korean monitors dont cut it as inputlag is massive.
120hz is just so plain better on any brand.

That is a bold statement on the input lag!

Most 1440p monitors have on average 16.7ms of input lag because of Multi inputs, Good Korean monitors i.e X-Star and Qnix to name just two, have very low input lag of 5-7ms due to only having single input of one Dual Link Dvi only.

Of course 120hz tn vs 120ghz ips/pls, the tn will be feel slightly faster.

Better Colours vs slightly faster = no brainer!

Aw man, that's bad timing lol. Hopefully I can run 2x of something else or 290x will be plenty of power for one card. Really thought I was 'safe' with 850 decent PSU :( To be fair, 444w is silly high.

Blimey, I never used to take notice of power figures but I clearly need to. No way am I getting 780 SLI with my PSU, Gold rated or not. Oddly enough, Guru3 recommend a 800 min for 780 SLI..

Top end of the scale 850W doesn't get you very far for SLi these days matey.

I wasn't entirely happy with my 1200W with 3 Titans as it was peeking close to maximum efficiency, so opted for a 1500W Enermax :)

Well this is why I'm now kind of thinking wait for 780ti and stick with single card until I can justify getting a new PSU. Mind you, sooner I sell it the more I'll get I suppose on the flip side. Seasonic 1250w Gold would be the next logical step.

Well I won't make a decision on PSU until I know what I'm doing card wise. Roll on Friday. Another option is a non overclocked SLI setup which would also be fine but probably still close to the limit.

The way I'm looking into the 780Ti is Nvidia will replace the Titian with the new 780Ti but on top of that will be overclocked (hence the fastest card they have ever made) comment.

This would allow Nvidia to have a price drop to be more competitive and at the same time beat the up and coming R290x
Well something like that lol

I ran my 1.395V Titan on it's own PSU whilst the rest of the system was on another PSU. I can't remember the exact figure but the power draw for a single Titan was around 460w. I have seen people claim they have hit 500W (not sure on the authenticity of that).

Not bad though and considering the TDP was 300w :D
