NVIDIA 780 Ti Announced (18/10/13)

It's a brand new product, just teething problems. It's programs like GPU-Z that don't support the new cards yet that cause the voltage/clocks/desktop loading issues.

Has nobody ever owned a launch card before around here?

Yeah, for the past 12 years :D. Can't recall having many problems with other cards such as this. Afterburner not supported I can deal with...

It's a cracking card don't get me wrong as a toy, hopefully get it under water this week. I just feel that personally with less and less time to fiddle around these days with work / family I can't be arsed with products that don't work off the bat in various different ways. Just feels like an instant reminder of why I've always chosen a particular brand over an other.

Trust me I say that with the least bit of brand loyalty! If I want to crack on and push a GPU to it's limits I'd buy AMD. Costs less, performs admirably when everything is 100% as it should. No holds barred.

If I want to jump on and play a game minimal fuss IMO you can't beat NV. Anyone can feel free to disagree!

All people complain about is Nvidia's pricing, so you wouldn't be suprised if the majority wanted the 780ti to fail regardless of price? Hmm.
Nope. Pretty sure "majortiy" just want Nvidia to price their cards at reasonable level, so that they have a "realistic alternative" to the AMD products at similar performance and price level, like the GTX460 vs 6850, GTX560Ti vs 6950, GTX570 vs 6970 back then. Take the GTX570 vs the 6970 (the GTX570 was a little be cheaper) for example, the GTX570 might have lesser vram than the 6970, but it was overall faster most likely thanks to its wider bus-size and higher memory bandwidth; fast forward to today, the GTX770 has vram, narrower bus-size, lower memory bandwidth, generally slower and more expensive than the 7970 by a huge margin...surely you can't blame people for critising that and call them AMD fanboy?

I agree but what you don't realise,is that certain people want to call others fanbois when they say that,as they want to attack the person not the argument. They hope by doing that, the person will stop posting, and they "win" by default. Best to ignore them IMHO.

Luckily for the rest of the world,Nvidia has started to take notice of AMD pricing and actually drop the GTX780 prices, due to the R9 290 launch in a few days.

Just seen that, they are now £400+ instead of £500+

The 770 has also come down in price a bit, £270+, its still a bit more expensive than the R9 280X.

I expect the R9 290X may to come down to £370 soon, and the R9 290 may launch at £320.

Soon comes the GTX 780ti as the final nail in the coffin.

Bahahahahahaha!

You have forgotten the GK110 is 565MM2 in size and the Hawaii is 438MM2. Hawaii is a cheaper GPU to produce. The boards have another 1GB of GDDR5 and a slightly more complex PCB which does add a bit to the cost though for AMD,so in the end AMD is probably well place to fight any Nvidia overtures too just on cost alone.

Plus another little factoid. If the R9 290 and R9 290X can do well against the GTX780 and Geforce Titan, even when not at full clockspeeds, then what do you think will happen with better custom coolers?? Have you noticed what happened to a lot of the reference AMD cards in the last two years?? Custom versions replaced them all at around the same price or lower.

According to Tarinder, the Hexus hardware reviewer, custom R9 290X cards will start to ship out late November.

^^ I have been saying for ages that Nvidia will just drop prices and make the 290X not sell at it's RRP.

All the Nvidia hate, and all the peeps saying AMD is the better option, even at 95c :p. As soon as Nvidia's cards become affordable for people, they drop AMD like a sack of spuds, and think of the 290X as a ginger step child :D

The Nvidia GTX 780ti will purely be their to take the performance crown, most people will be happy with the cheaper 780's.

Stop all your pathetic Nvidia hate nonsense, its just hilarious. I own an Nvidia card.

Two of my last three fastest cards have been Nvidia too,so try harder.

You seem to be paranoid.

People make valid points and try to have a sensible debate, thats what your calling fanboyisum and Hate, its like walking around on egg shells in here with you and a couple of others around, this needs to stop, judging from experience i'm very surprised mods let this go on and on and on...

I'm not sure what you're talking about bud. I was pointing out how fickle people are, nearly everyone here was hyping the 290X, I said it was to hot, and Nvidia would drop prices, I got flamed for that. It was all a conspiracy, Linus was wrong, TTL was wrong. All due to the overwhelming AMD bias here.

Well guess what, prices drop and suddenly everyone loves Nvidia.. 780's flying off the shelves lol, Mantle what? 95c huh?

Fickle.

Again more personal attacks from Humbug. What a surprise. Reported.

Every time you get personal with me or someone else I'm going to report you. It's getting boring Humbug.

That's quite amusing coming from you, some of the points you've made over the past few weeks certainly haven't been sensible or debatable.

If the forum is so full of haters who want nVidia to fail regardless of price how can they also all suddenly be loving nVidia at the new prices?

It's almost like what was going on all along was people were unimpressed by nVidia's pricing so recommended the better value alternative, and now have an actual choice to make regarding the features & performance of each side.

What mantle is capable of remains to be seen, may make a big difference or may not. *shrug* as with all other not-yet-available tech there is no way of telling if it'll be significant or not.

Not sure it's fickle to change your opinion on what card is best in a price range when a bunch of cards change price significantly - to stick with one side regardless of what happens being the fanboyism that is so often cited.

Edit: Oh dear, I've wandered off topic. My apologies, that had nothing to do with the 780Ti :(

That wasn't a personal attack. He's disagreeing with you and you're abusing the RTM function of this board instead of ignoring him or arguing your case. :)
