NVIDIA 780 Ti Announced (18/10/13)

Since there are no specs yet this could just as well be an OCed 780 with nothing really going for it otherwise. Hope this is not the case cause what would be the point? people already OC their 780 as we did with the 7970 before the ghz edition landed.

Judging from the 290X TDP and running temp of 95c, the AMD one will be OC'd to heck as well, just default from the factory.. so, fair play :P

Sweet!! :D

*cuddles 780*

I can see the serious benefits of this and it will get rid of the need for top end GPU's. From what Linus has said, it makes low frames very smooth and needs to be seen for how smooth it looks. When farmes drop, no longer do we get the lag and when frames are high, the V-Sync style turns off.

Still rough reading but that seems to be the way it works.

Not interested for 1080P personally but 1440P or even 1600P, I am sitting upright.

I predict a full 2880 Cores and only 3GB, with some custom 6GB to come later. Some of the compute features that Titan has missing on the 780ti, this way Nvidia would not step on Titan's toes, and can distance itself from the stack. Titan is more of an anomaly than part of the 7XX line of GPU's.

So with that in mind it's likely that the 780ti is much faster in games than Titan. A true new gaming flagship.

290 V 780
290X V 780ti

It's a good time to be into gaming lol.

Hasn't it been mentioned that there will not be a 290, only 290x?

It sounds nice and all...but I find that a bit hard to believe, as it would stop people spending crazy money on top-end card, thus effectively hurting Nvidia's own profit...

But you will never lose the people who must have the top end GPU. Maybe Nvidia are thinking of our pockets....I couldn't write that last bit without laughing btw :D

Ohhhh sncccchhnaaaapppp!

Perfectly timed from nVidia that was!

I was actually curious about 290X as I had an upgrade itch for BF4, I still do but not for a 290X anymore...this has seriously got my attention.

Shadowplay + Potential in G-Sync and a new top tier GPU part? Count me in.

Welcome to the future

Nvidia has always been good with their marketing...or "talking". The question is how long will they bring these feature into actualisation? That's what I mean to know. For all we know these new features won't be available till a year later, and these announcement serves more as a tool to stale the sales of the AMD new flagship cards.

I myself is on the exact same boat as you...I was dead-set on getting the 290, now I don't really know. Nvidia definitely know how to press our buttons...

Agreed, it could be hot air at this stage. HOWEVER. AMD are doing themselves no favours already, nVidia don't need to muddy the waters tactically.

So, I am Jen-Hsun I think "Damn, AMD are dropping their own ball...let's announce the 780TI, get samples to reviewers, get reviews out ASAP and bring this to market as quickly as we can."

Why risk looking just as bad as AMD by making a hot-air announcement when they can capitalise on it instead.

It would be the best icing on the cake ever not only for nVidia to announce but to deliver properly in the face of AMD playing shy with the 290X.

I think it might be bang in the middle of titan and gtx780 spec wise. The gtx780 has 12 smx units resulting in 2304 shaders where as the titan has 14 smx units with 2688 shaders. The gtx780ti card will probably have 13 smx units with 2496 shaders and clocked a good bit higher. This way Titan is still the real daddy even though the 780ti is a little faster because of higher clocks. It would also seperate the gtx780ti from the gtx780 a little like the gtx660 and ti version.
