NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Gsysnc is doing a great job at the moment of extending the life of my 1080.

I am hand on heart playing Odyssey max settings tat 1440p. This game is meant to be a system crusher. And yet, the game is smooth even though fps are between 30 - 80 fps.

I want a new card. But the whole point of a new card is RT. And I'm not convinced the current 2000 series are powerful enough.

My 980Ti is doing the same as well, it's great. I will be upgrading next but won't be going with nVidia.

Hopefully 2020 will be better with Xe coming out. As if I was you I wouldn't say its worth upgrading from a 980ti to a 5700XT with you did'nt want to consider nVidia again.

I'm considering a 5700XT but there's no need at this point in time. I'll prob get a 3700x/mobo & RAM and then once that's done, see what the GPU market is like. I'm not keen on the nVidia business practices which is why I'm considering my next card as AMD. Given I can still pull 90fps+ on my gsync monitor at 1440p, I could prob get away with using it for another year or so to be honest.

Yeah. RT is definitely underwhelming on the 2000 series. 3000 will be much better and be worth the wait.

Supposed Ampere leaks from a board partner

Where did you see this btw? I had a quick look and couldn't find that info you posted.

Yes where did you see this supposed leak as google doesn't seem to know anything about it?

/Whispers...........Don't let it be a troll attempt, don't let it be a troll attempt, don't let it be a troll attempt. ;)

Wish this worked for me. Gsync or not when under 60fps my eyes can tell.

Can you not see it too? Cheaper to not be able to see it tbh;)

Try £1500 me thinks maybe more.
Is this what your willing to pay?

Every time there is a new gen of cards there are people who come out with crazy figures like this, almost like they want it happen. Don’t get it myself. The expectation needs to be £700-£800 and if more then to give them a hard time about it.

As I keep saying, if the price had always gone up the past 20 years like some keep expecting every new gen, the cards would cost as much as a house by now...

Honestly I cannot see it. I've played 106hrs so far of that game on Ultra and it's been fine.
Main thing is your are happy with what you see and enjoy. Everyone is different and have got used to something different. For me a game like say Doom I am happy to play at 57fps with G-Sync. To me that is plenty smooth. Someone else may say anything less than 240fps and they can tell and it’s horrible.

Each to their own. All I care is what I see and feel however and to me playing it maxed out at 4K looks awesome rather than some other potato resolution to get it to 240fps which then anyone would be able to see the huge drop in image quality.

Yes the subjective experience is all that matters.

I'm at 3440*1440 so 5M to push, seems a good balance until affordable graphics cards can comfortably push 4k-like resolutions.

I'm just not a believer in monitor syncing being a saviour of lower FPS
