NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

Yeah. They pushed you to buy a 3090 no lube edition, just like a few years ago they pushed me to get a 4K g-sync monitor after I had waited about a year for them to release a freesync 2 after it was announced.

In the end I am well happy with my choice of going 3080FE. Especially because it ended up being sub £600 after selling the game codes and cashback :D

Agree, jensen mailed me a fresh 50ml bottle and told me to just be the receiver.. so I caved. I wont have the VRAM worries of @TNA @Richdog ;) but I'm sure by the time the 3080 is struggling there will be better choice and refreshes to make a sell-on palatable.

AMD have got to a rasterisation place which is very good, and can even get better gains when people upgrade to new ZEN bundles. As you did @TNA I sold my code so theres another 30 toward the FE price, which judging by all the AIB markups is not as harsh as it sounds. I have undervolted to lowest voltage and it draws 240w on load. Its actually not much more than my Vega but crushes it in all tasks so far - I am playing Death Stranding and it looks amazing.

Hah, well TinyD that's one way to look at it, but I of course meant in the context of providing an adequate launch of their gaming cards to the eager gamer crowd. ;):D

It wasn't acceptable by any standards and has been a frustrating experience for millions of people.
That I do agree totally my dude, we the gamer/enthusiast got shafted almost as much as the AIB's by both companies! :D

Morning Chuck, read what I put bud, they forced the gamer cards through locks to be crap at mining thus giving the optics of not supporting miners, AMD like Nvidia sell chips direct to mining firms who make/design their own PCB and build there own cards, these are straight chips not locked on the PCB like retail cards.
Whoops. I completely missed that.

Hiya mate, yer I sold my 2070 for £400 in the end.... And people were fighting over it! Like what the fudge is going on! got 140 for an old 2700x I had laying around I forgot about, so to totally justify the cash price I paid for my FE? Im mentally knocking the extra £540 off so I only really paid £860 for my 3090 FE :D:D:D (The mental gymnastics to justify it to just myself are immense haha).
Well chuffed with the 3090 FE though, check owners thread I hit 14128 in Port Royal @ 44c running an massive undervolt so Im well happy with my **cough* £860, 3090FE lol.

Was kinda good Samsung TV, Samsung GPU, but now I've got an LG TV.

On another note,

I genuinely put my 3080 FE up for 850 quid and about 100 people were interested, it was insane, I didn't sell it in the end, guess you can call me a mega scalping tease.

SInce AMD are both TSMC biggest customer AND they are selling everything they can buy from TSMC - how is this the companies fault? TSMC are at maximum capacity and so are Samsung
Hi mate, honestly I dunno where to start and explain that one. While what you say is correct the amount of effort to go through the process and debate why that's the case but not is beyond what I can be arsed with right now :-)

TLDR: Samsung=Max because Nvidia shoved all it's GA product line to miners before you, TSMC are maxed because AMD threw 2 major console launches both that exceeded by a large factor what either Sony or Microsoft anticipated then AMD also threw a new GPU line at TSMC and then sold a large volume of those die to miners direct.

Neither company failed shareholders and profits but both companies as pointed out by Richdog failed the gamer/Enthusiast.

I do like a bit of man math :D

You have said the comment about miners a few times - can you cite any reputeable source please. However - your comment simply supprots mine. WHat happens to the product after it has left the fab is nothing to do with what i said.

Haha :D

What else you tried playing? How are you finding RT and DLSS? Is it as good as Grim was saying? :p

All the games I am playing now do not even support it and I have a bunch installed at the moment which is not typical for me. Currently mainly playing Kingdom Come Deliverance, Half Life: Alyx and Beat Saber.

It is unlikely nVidia sold GA products to miners ahead of retail sales.

I read the original report - it doesn't say anything like certain posters here are claiming - though for some reason uses Ampere mining performance as a reference (though it does underestimate to try and take into account older hardware) to try and form estimates when the network performance hasn't significantly changed in a manner that would support an influx of faster hardware and the vast majority will be older hardware. The report itself however doesn't tie its estimate of crypto income to any particular hardware let alone claim that any portion of it is due to Ampere.

Undervolting is where its at my mukka ;) loving the man maths I only paid £1369 and got free lube from Jensen. :D

Mate - as you well know playing at NATIVE 4k is already buttery smooth, not even looked at DLSS. No doubt get even more fps from DLSS but the card is that strong I dont need it yet.

Oh yeah for sure, but are you not curious to try some stuff from the RTX thread? When I got my card I downloaded all the benchmarks, demos and a few rt/dlss games to see what’s what for myself.

Don't use DLSS unless you're gaming at 4k.
I am gaming at 4K, trouble is no game I want to play right now support either of them anyway. I already had my mess about trying it all and doing benchmarking etc. Since then done a fresh install of windows and only installing games I actually fancy playing and none of those include rt or dlss.

But in one weeks time that will change big time :D

Are you serious? Thousands are in a rush to upgrade thats why they have Discord watching the drops etc. Moaning no stock etc etc etc.

I meant in a rush to upgrade their product lines

E.g 3070ti, 3070 super which were rumoured before.

Of course PC users in a rush to upgrade. We are the easiest chumps in the world to extract money from.
